Reading The Wake Up And Dream Challenge, has changed my life. I fell into a point in my life where I felt frozen. I had my dreams, but was not able to pursue them in an organized manner. I would have days where I would do some tasks to advance, but then I would fall back into feeling frustrated and not knowing what to do next. I started to go weeks and sometimes months without doing anything. When I heard about Dr. Lavi's book, I thought I would give it a try. I met Dr. Lavi at a networking meeting and was instantly intrigued by her dream concept and devotion to helping others.
I have been diligently following her dream plan and feel incredibly empowered without the anxiety that I felt earlier of not knowing what to do next. After the plan is put together, it is amazing how simple it feels to advance your dreams in such a non stressful way. Although I think Dr. Lavi's book is helpful to anybody that wants to make their dreams come true, I also wish that I had her book when I was a college student. Looking back to my college days, it is incredibly difficult to decide what you really want to do at such a young age. It is even more difficult, once you decide what you want, to figure out how to get there. I believe Dr. Lavi's book should have a dedicated class, and become a prerequisite for all students, college and high school. Giving this book to anybody that wants to plan their future, is stuck in a bad situation , or wants to enjoy every crumb of their time on this earth, would receive the best gift that one could ever want, the key to living life to it's fullest.

"The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams." ~ Oprah

Barbara Lavi is the type of person that helps people realize their dreams no matter how bad their circumstances might seem. She believes that despair and depression can be avoided if you have hope and a dream. In this book she presents interesting case studies that show you how others have made their dreams come true. This book discusses things like magical thinking, goal setting and how to turn off your inner critic. Half the book is about fulfilling your dreams and half is about creative nonprofit organizations.

I was surprised at the depth and width of this book. From the title, I wrongly assumed it was just about dreams during sleep. Now, I recognize that it is a guidebook for recognizing our basic yearning and stretching towards something better and bigger than we already have.

As much as I loved the stories of resiliency (a subject, I also have written a book about), I especially enjoyed the stories of Dr. Lavi's family and their dreams and strategies towards individual and family goals. This is a book I will re-read and then share with the young college interns who work with me. Many need this sort of plan and direction in order to find their dreams in life.

The non-profits listed were of great interest and some I will follow up with soon.
