There isn't much about Waldorf philosophy or education in this cookbook, no reasons are given as to why a recipe is included, no antidotes, no illustrations, nothing else. The only connection to Waldorf seems to be that the recipes were contributed by some one who may be affiliated with a Waldorf school in some way, but even so, there isn't even a notation of their type affiliation (ie: parent, teacher, student). If you've read the preview page excerpt about food and seasons, that's it.

The recipes are organized by type (soup, meat, vegetarian, bread, desserts) rather than by season as one would expect based on the lovely inscription previewed. I was expecting a book that would help focus on seasonal eating. Most the recipes seem simple and easy to prepare. We made the Hawaiian sweet bread, but it really was more of a cake. A few of the recipes include questionable processed-food ingredients that I wouldn't serve, however most have wholesome ingredients.

The font size is inconsistent. It varies between each recipe. Some recipes are printed in 14pt, others are printed in 9pt. This is just a minor annoyance. It appears that the author wanted each individual recipe to have it's own page, however forgot to maintain the 14pt for small recipes. You can see this font discrepancy on the table of contents.

Overall the recipes that we have made have been tasty and easy. It appears that most all the recipes are very simple to prepare.

These recipes are great! They are easy to prepare and delicious. We have tried several of the recipes and all have been spectacular but one, and that one (Sugar Free Sweet and Sour Chicken) was still pretty good. We are highly addicted to the Cottage Meatloaf (who would have thought) and my four year old adores the Chicken and Dumplings. I'm gluten free and have easily substituted gluten free baking mix for flour in all of the recipes. A fantastic purchase! I wish there was a second volume!
