Editorial Reviews

In the new season, we see Rick and the group of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison only to have it short-lived as the group loses everything, their home, family, and friends to the threat of the walkers, outside threats and the hidden dangers brewing inside the fences. The group of survivors are broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else's fate as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested -- a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is about the people! (minor spoilers) July 16, 2014
Format:Blu-ray
Are you Rick? What about Shane? How about Daryl? Perhaps Maggie? What type of survivor would you be and how would the events that happen in The Walking Dead change you? That is how I have always approached the show. Sure, it has walkers (or geeks per season 1), but they are the supporting cast and not the real threat. People, they are the real threat to each other. I tell everyone that is skeptical of TWD that it is not a zombie show, it is about the people, their relationships, their growth or lack thereof, and their morals. One of my favorite aspects of TWD is this group of unlikely allies, who probably would never be friendly sans apocalypse, would die, kill and fight to save each other (yes Rick, Carol really did do what she thought was best for the group so get over it). What would happen to the group if there was a cure for the infection (since they are all carriers)? Would they continue to be a family or would they go back to being what they once were, a cop, a lawyer, a drunk, etc. This show is, in essence, a character study on the dynamics of people pulled together from all facets of life needing to rely on and trust strangers for survival. Through the eyes of Rick, we see the fear when he spies his first walker, the reality of having to kill one of your own that turned and the sadness and anger of a friend's betrayal. We then see the hard-nose dictator, the vengeful father, husband and friend driven crazy by guilt, the compassionate leader and finally the ruthless, you screwed with the wrong people, taking them all down look. From a man that apologized to a walker for what happened to him to a man that has had to kill the living, how can this show NOT be about the people? Each character has grown in their own way. 4.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome collectors set from "The Walking Dead" August 30, 2014
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Another awesome collectors set from "The Walking Dead". The fourth season is excellent and the sound and picture quality is superb. My only nitpicks are with the "special features" on this and the last set released. I would prefer longer behind the scenes docs instead of the short segments that are mostly a rehash ofthe stuff from the AMC website. At least they could give you a "play all" feature for them as well. And why not include the last webisode as well? Or the two excellent hour length specials that AMC recently aired. The always entertaining comicon "Walking Dead" panels would be a nice addition as well. The McFarlane tree zombie is excellent as expected. But what makes this set worth the purchase price alone? The final episode has Rick delivering the great line as in the comics.....with no FCC sanitizing....AWESOME! ****

4.0 out of 5 stars A 5 star product. August 29, 2014
By Omar
Format:Blu-ray
I had to give 4 stars because of delivery issues, they promised to be delivered by Tuesday August 26th and it was moved a few days later, I had to cancel my order because I did not want to go through the same thing again.

The product itself is really well made, but be careful when placing the Blu-ray case inside , if you place it the wrong way it'll get stuck (back of the disc case must be facing out), the lever inside will hold it making it difficult to get out of there so please be mindful of that, i had to use a knife to get it out; but i was careful enough not to damage the container.

Other than the fact that is an awesome collection, you will really enjoy this product. i also have the previous season on special edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Limited edition review- Awesome product August 27, 2014
By ttemp
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
The packaging for the limited edition is amazing. I have the season 3 limited edition with the walker heads in the fish tanks and the blu rays themselves are packaged the same style digipak except with different art work. Far superior to the target steel book because it tells you what is on each disc. You also get an ultraviolet code and a mini walking dead catalog that gives you a 15% off coupon code for the walking dead online store.

The sculpture itself is very high quality. At first when I turned it upside down there was something that was rattling around but I soon realized it was the lever behind the part that says "Season 4 The Walking Dead". When you put the blu rays inside the lever is pushed down and the head tilts to the right and the arm moves up. Pretty cool but I dont plan on storing the discs in there, the fit is tight and it seems like it will eventually scratch the blu ray case. The ferns on the right hand side are made of rubber and are pretty flexible, they were obviously glued in as I could still see some glue at the base of the ferns. Everything else is hard plastic. The only downside is it obviously hallow but you cant tell by just looking at it. Only when you pick it up or flick it can you tell it is hallow. Overall though it is greatly detailed and looks absolutely amazing. It is much bigger than the season 3 limited edition and really makes that one not look as good when sitting right next to each other. Either way I love both and highly recommend this at the current $80 price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Show. Crummy Design. August 30, 2014
By Jason
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
This isn't a review of the show. The show is great and I've enjoyed watching it since the beginning. This is a review of the special edition case manufactured by McFarlane Toys. By all outward appearances, the tree walker case is beautiful, well detailed, and quite pleasing to the eye. It's kinda big (for those who did not bother to check out the dimensions before ordering), but the closer you look at it, the more the flaws become apparent. Both the top and the bottom of the case have visible flaws and minor defects, mostly where the seams of the plastic walls that house the DVD case come together. Secondly, when the DVD case is placed into the tight fitting slot, the walker head turns and the arm rises, but it rises nowhere near as high as the photo would have you believe. Quite literally, the arm only raises about half the height that it is capable. Also, and most annoyingly of all, there are no instructions included in the box directing you on the proper way to insert the DVD case into the slot. Bearing that in mind, when I inadvertently slid the DVD case in what was apparently backwards, I was unable to retrieve it. It was caught and would not come out. If my wife hadn't thought to turn the entire thing upside and try to retrieve it that way I would be the proud owner of a Walking Dead paperweight. So, yes, the DVD case did slide out when inverted, allowing the lever inside to release the case. Quite honestly, I am sorely disappointed in the set. The show, however, as I said before, is excellent. So save yourself some money and buy one of the sets without the tree walker.

where is it? i got a email that said the release date was changed?
Amazon wont be able to send it till they get more in. They are the worst for shipping. That's why i have stopped shopping at amazon. (plus other reasons why i don't like them anymore.) only reason i ordered from amazon was because i had gotten free gift cards.

Region coding
The first three seasons were Region A locked, so it's safe to assume that Anchor Bay has made this release Region A as well.

HAH!
Yes, and seeing as that AMC site doesn't ship to areas outside the US & Canada, as someone from Australia, I was VERY glad when I finally saw this for pre-order on amazon. :)
