Product Description

Platform: Xbox 360

The Walking Dead video game takes the undead and brings them out of the AMC Emmy award-winning TV show and into console gaming systems in a new, terrifying way.   Terminal Reality’s first-person action game will allow players to assume the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon on an unforgiving quest to the supposed safety of Atlanta. The iconic walkers will relentlessly hunt down players like their television counterparts using a combination of sight, sound, and smell. As Daryl, players will need to tread carefully throughout each new area they explore.  Once discovered, it doesn’t take much to attract an unstoppable horde of undead walkers, so every threat needs to be assessed, and every situation analyzed. No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, in this new, post-apocalyptic world.

2.0 out of 5 stars Go ahead and downvote me fanboys March 20, 2013

So, I'm noticing a pattern here. Someone doesn't like the game and it doesn't matter why, or what reasons they give their review is toasted from the jump. 2 thumbs up and 12 thumbs down for a review that actually holds vital information about the game? Get real. Seriously. Or get a life.

Ok. Here's my review, which I'm sure will parrot back some of the things mentioned in other reviews, but I also KNOW FOR A FACT it will have information not spoken of in any other review so far. So try and base your judgement on how helpful it could be, and not how much you personally like the game. I too was highly disappointed when I saw how this game looked. It seemed from the jump an attempt to cash in. Even though the trailer was fake it still had gameplay, so it still counts in my eyes. I wasn't thrilled to see nothing was being done to promote this game. AMC isn't going to run an ad for the game during the show the game is based on? Seems like a rug sweeping to me.

I preordered this game to get the ear keychain. I was expecting a rubber ear. What I got was a print out of a picture of an ear sandwhiched between two pieces of plexiglass. Awesome. They couldn't have cheaped out more. The ominous signs just kept coming.

I got home and I started playing. Right away I noticed the graphics weren't as terrible as I was expecting. The game had a solid opening. The voice acting is fairly well done. The shadows for the flashlight were pretty great. Actually, the whole flashlight system was pretty fun. It brought me back to the feeling I got playing Doom so many years ago. But eventually flaws came trickling out, and for the sake of making this a task to read I'll list what I can now:

1.One save game file? Are you for real?

2.0 out of 5 stars So much potential and yet..... March 21, 2013

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying Im a huge fan of the walking dead franchise, but this game falls far too flat to even be called average even with my bias considered.

The story overall wasn't bad, it had some decent moments but its very cut and dry with beyond minimal voice acting and presentation. It feels extremely rushed, though, for good reason. It was. This game wasnt supposed to come out until the end of the year but activision forced its release FAR before it was ready. You can feel the potential in this game and how it could've been a contender for game of the year if they would have just let production finish.

The melee combat isnt bad but the gun play leaves alot to be desired. The entire game from start to finish took me 3 1/2 hours (with alot of backroad travel looking for supplies) Im not saying the game was super easy. There were a few deaths here and there when I wasnt quick enough running past a group but overall the melee weapons strength and relative ease of positioning leaves you using any other weapon for maybe 2% of your total kills (obviously the melee is better but ammo/guns are pretty common)

tl;dr
+Stars a member of the TV show along with his voice actor (some cameos during the game as well but nothing major)

-3 1/2 hours long

-No replay value outside of ending the game with a different set of non interactive survivors.

-Once you learn the timing of melee weapons and positioning the game feels horribly mechanical

-Random locations you find along the road are almost always a reused asset (same level as a stop along the road 100 miles back)

They could have done SO much more if only they were given the time and you can tell the team working on this game put alot of love into what they could get done with. Shame on Activision for pushing this out the door for a quick dollar.

4.0 out of 5 stars so far this game is very fun! March 19, 2013

I was one of the first who bashed the game when I first heard its announcement, its release date, the crappy teaser trailer and the leaked footage. I had no intention of buying this game bc it just looked very low budget.. but when I saw amazon was selling it for like 35 bucks, I figured "eh what the heck, might get some form of enjoyment out of it". Well ups just dropped it off an hour ago, I just completed the first level. It took me longer than the youtube video i saw bc I was exploring everything and ended up finding an optional survivor and another guy who gave me ammo for food which was very well needed for my main objective a little later. This game can be tense if you are dealing with more than one walker, especially a massive mob I attracted by mistake..

a litle later, I approached a car and it asked if I wanted to push it over to go through the path and figured why do i want to do that, so i jumped on the car to walk over it to the path and the car alarm went off and I attracted a massive mob. The couple mobs in the area approached and a few more broke down a nearby fence, before you know it, I was trapped on top of the car, luckily they cant climb the car so i was safe for the moment and gave me time to think of an exit strategy. This is where I am lucky I got that extra ammo so I can shoot off a few walkers to make a small path through the mob to try and escape the rest of the herd, seriously this game is pretty awesome, everyone who says its trash dont have an open mind of lower budget games and think everything should look and play like the top 3 shooters which is halo, call of duty and gears of war.
