Book Description

The Wanderer marks a new direction (and pen name) for author PD Martin, whose first five crime fiction novels have been published in 13 countries to date.

In the not too distant future …

The digger clips the side of the ancient container, cracking it. The banished ones flicker—escape is near.

The crack widens and The Wanderer worms its way upwards; into the cables, into cyberspace. The Protector follows, ready to fulfill his duty. The unstoppable chain of events is about to begin.

Sasha and Andy have known each other forever, and share everything—including cool email attachments. The latest one, a strange creature, is no exception. However, when Sasha gets sick with symptoms that don’t add up, they wonder if the creature from the email could somehow be involved. It’s creepy … scary … and it seems to control them.

In a race against time, they must discover the secret of the strange creature and save themselves and their town from the ancient Wanderer. But there’s more to the creature than meets the eye, and Sasha and Andy will be drawn into a world of the Ancients—the Guardians and Wanderers.

The Wanderer intertwines time zones, bringing together a magical mix of the past and future, dipping into the world of sci-fi and techno-fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for book 2 May 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Sasha and Andy have been friends for ever - they spend all their school time and spare time together and share everything. Justine has just arrived in town and she is finding it tough to make friends in the small country town where everyone has known each other for ever. The three fourteen-year-olds are drawn together when the wanderer arrives to destroy all that they love.

Sasha opens an email attachment and is infected by the Wanderer who has just escaped from his prison of a thousand years. His sole goal is to spread a deathly sickness - but this is not the first time a wanderer has caused havoc. Justine and Andy have to look to the past to save the future.

After a bit of a confusing start I was quickly sucked into this incredibly fast paced story. Everything got put to one side as I flipped my virtual pages to see what was going to happen next, how on earth the story was going to be resolved. The first in a proposed series, The Wanderer was a great debut for Pippa Dee and aimed at teens from 13 to 15 - and those of us who wished we still were! Although at the end there is an opening that you know is the link to the next book, overall the ending is complete with no loose ends.

Disclaimer - I was given a copy of this book for review - and I made no promise that it would be favorable. Mind you that did not become a problem as the book is great and I can't wait until the release of the second in the series later this year.

An Australian author, Pippa Dee has written five fantastic crime fiction books featuring Sophie Anderson - an FBI profiler - under the name of PD Martin

I downloaded a sample copy of The Wanderer (Guardian/Wanderer series #1) by Pipp Dee. I was taken in by the story and characters immediatly, so I purchased it. I read it in one day, i couldn't leave it down. It is really well written and keeps the reader in suspence about the story and outcome. It also left me wanting more, cant wait for more of the The Wanderer in August 2012. The price is great too!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wanderer by Pippa Dee October 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Centuries ago a dangerous group brought death to the tribes. The Wanderers were that group. The Guardians fought them whenever necessary. The Guardians defeated all but one. One Wanderer and one Guardian to watch over that Wanderer. They were put to sleep, in a manner of speaking. Who would have guessed centuries later that Wanderer would be let loose in the cyber world? Sasha, an unknowing young girl, opened the file the Wanderer was in and so it began again after all this time. The Wanderer was making Sasha sick and then she sent the file to her friend Andy and it made him sick. No one knew what to do.
The legacy was passed down for generations to the eldest woman of the family. She had to be surrounded by children. Georgia Brown was that woman. She was anxious to get started on her part of the legacy. When she finally figured out who the chosen one was, she thought it might be to late.

A mix of old and new make this book an interesting one for sure. Peeking back at how it began and then looking ahead to see where it's headed keeps this book moving along at a more fluid pace. The characters are well developed and easy to identify with. I recommend this book to everyone but especially to those who have an interest in old tribal legends. I found this fascinating book an easy read and one I'd read again. Get this one on that TBR pile today!

I found no issues in this one.

I gave this one 4 out of 5 books because while I would read it again, some of the "old"parts can be difficult to follow.
