Editorial Reviews

Review

"The pace of this book was perfect. It held me captive from beginning to end. This story has a well-crafted plot, with well-developed characters and plenty of suspense to keep me hooked. The Wanting Heart is one of those stories that grabs you by the hand and doesn't let go until it's all over." --The Romance Reviews

Rodeo. A mystery. Two things I love in one book! When a stalker targets Katherine White, ex-boyfriend Blake Spencer rides to the rescue. Filled with rodeo imagery I know and love, one sexy cowboy, and believable friendships between girls, this book is a keeper! The Wanting Heart is Rionna Morgan's debut book, and I will be looking for many more from her. This novel is filled with action, mystery and of course romance! Morgan blends the intrigue of a serial killer with a Western romance that hits the heart. I like her characters and the details of what it's like around a rodeo, especially the horses. For any horse fan this is a great book. Can't wait to see what the next novel is about!

Wow what an amazing ride! You will love the pictures that this author creates. You can almost taste the dust. Sometimes you can take the wrong trail, but your friends will always be there to lead you back around to the one who holds your heart. What a strong leading lady. Great Job Rionna! I look forward to reading more books from your very vivid imagination.

How are sex scenes?
Sweet and curious. There's not many naked moments, and the first one involves the hero lighting multiple candles somewhere in the room and then roaming back to the bed to kiss the heroine after each one. Sweet. Sensual. Inconvenient?

How are the story lines?
Good. This is a romantic suspense novel. There's no mystery (i.e., you immediately know who the killer is and when a "mystery" is written it's unveiled shortly thereafter), but there is plenty of plot tension.

Review

The Wanting Heart is Rionna Morgan's debut album. I enjoy how Kate wears sequins and rhinestones for the crowd and how that information is given right after we're introduced to Blake. Somehow it makes Kate appear more human, trying to please the one constant (the rodeo crowd) she has left in her life.

And we do meet Blake. He has the very first line. Morgan drops the reader directly into Kate's misery of unrequited love. She loved him. She loves him, and we already ache for her pain. Because he's here. He's right here and won't go away.

Enter Luke Ferral, Kate's new beau and freak extraordinaire.

In small town, Colorado Luke always wears a tuxedo. The tux seems over-the-top. A suit would have the same affect. He's also really, really, really smooth. Like when he writes Kate a note saying, "...your magic green eyes" and takes her on a private plane. I feel he's trying too hard and Kate should notice that private planes aren't normal for first dates.

Kate's friends are, like her, just out of college. They seem immature to me, going on hardcore "buy silly things" shopping trips and always being present when Luke picks up Kate for an outing.

I'd never read a Crimson Romance before and didn't know quite what to expect. I think Rionna Morgan has displayed a deft penmanship here and I genuinely liked the hero. A nice guy, but not perfect. Handsome, but not out of reach. Courageous, but not superhuman. Hmmm... yes please. And good tension in the story too. The danger points were real and threatening - and you felt a kinship with the heroine. I found myself willing her on and holding my breath at several points. Congratulations Ms Morgan.

This book swept me away. I love reading romance books especially when they offer a little suspense twist just makes them so much more interesting.

This book is filled with suspense and mystery. It is not just a hug and kiss romance book. Yes it has that also but more. Readers are you looking for a book that will carry you on a trip filled with suspense, mystery, love, hurt, forgiveness and more. Well look no further. This book has all of that and more. I read the other day that any book is to short when you do not want it to end. Well, this is one of those books. I did not want it to end.

Kate and Blake carry readers on a trip with old hurts. Hurts that are hard to over look and forgive. However, love and forgiveness prevail in the end. When reading be prepared to be sweep away and wonder what happened to your day.

Thanks for a great read Rionna.

The bunnies and I give this book 4 carrots.

The Wanting Heart is a page turner. If you like romantic suspense this is a must-read. The characters are multi-dimensional and compelling and the story never slows down building to an explosive climax that will have you gripping your book (or reader)until the very end.
