Book Description

Zeb Carter is an ex-Special Forces mercenary with two rules. No war on innocents. No endangering of women and children.

Zeb is also a deep black operative who works for a U.S. government agency that doesn’t exist. He is sent in when all other options fail. He has never failed on a mission.

A routine mission to the Congo to identify rogue mercenaries explodes when he witnesses barbaric acts. The scale of the acts are such that he can’t walk away and he does something he has never done before.

He breaks mission rules and decides to mete his brand of justice.

Disowned by his own agency and with just a maverick intelligence analyst, Broker, along with him, Zeb tracks the perpetrators to New York.

There he enters a grey world of conspiracy and hidden agendas, facing opponents not just those he’s hunting and finds that he alone is interested in justice.

Everyone else wants the affair buried and Zeb along with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ty Peterson's The Warrior May 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a very good thriller with adventure, suspense, challenges of
true gruesome atrocities occurring verus secret political cover ups,
kidnapping and some history of mining in the Congo. There is some
humor and family relationships involved adding to the plot.
The author is able to weave together past events into the present
smoothly and without difficulty. The twists & turns within the story
keep you holding your breathe while sitting on the edge of your
seat.
The main character & his friends have unique traits used for
survival. These skills are exhibited throughout the story.
Zebediah Carter, an ex-Special Force is a private military
contractor sent into the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is
about to wrap up his observation mission when he comes to a
village where US ex-military men are committing gruesome
atrocities. Carter calls this group “ The Rogue Six “. Even though
his handler tells him to ignore what is happening, Carter intervenes
taking out three of the six.
Back in the states with orders to let the other “Rogue Three” alone,
Carter digs into their whereabouts. Circumstance arise that Carter
needs to handle with his crew.
What a astonishing ending to a good thriller!!
Don’t miss reading this book.
I received this ebook as a gift from the author. My opinion is my
own. Thank you Ty for a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rogue Six, now Rogue Three May 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story starts with Zeb Carter, ex-Special Forces and now private military contractor, in the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo). He ends up at the village of Luvungi and witnesses terrible atrocities committed against women and children by a group of men he calls the Rogue Six. After killing three of the group, he follows the other three to the U.S. to avenge the villagers.

Carter is a bigger-than-life hero. Able to kill with all kinds of weapons including his bare hands, he tracks the monstrous trio including their leader Carsten Holt and asks for help along the way from friends with specialized skill sets, not only to help find and kill the Rogue Three but also to help protect family and friends. I especially liked Broker, tech genius, and young boy Rory.

Fast paced, full of action and colorful characters, I enjoyed this thrill-a-minute revenge themed thriller.

I do wish the backstories of the characters had been developed more. And the book could have used a bit more editing for punctuation and word usage.

But if you like thrillers or adventure stories, I think you will like this first in a series by author Patterson.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing thriller November 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Thank you to the author for the review copy.

When Private Military Contractor Zeb Carter witnesses gruesome crimes in the Congo, he can’t just walk away.
Plagued by the scale of the crimes and the helplessness of the victims, he is bent on his own private justice.

This is another one of those books that, had I not been offered it for review, I probably would have missed out on. Which would have been a shame because not only did it get me through a particularly long night, but it was a fast paced, addictive read with plenty of action tempered with enough emotional resonance to give it an edge.

Zeb Carter is on a mission of vengeance against a particularly nasty mercenary, one Carsten Holt - after witnessing atrocities he cannot let slide, he is determined to seek his own brand of justice - and returns to New York to do just that. Along with an eclectic cast of supporting characters, all of whom are well drawn and believable (Rory was a character I became particularly fond of) he will get his man. Won't he?

I found this intriguing - I don't read what could be termed "military" thrillers that often and I became more fascinated by the whole mercenary/security consulting subject the further I got drawn into the story. There is an interesting morality here - some are willing to protect Carsten Holt despite his villainy simply because he can offer them something in return that may save others - So food for thought there in and of itself.

The plot is intelligent and feels authentic, the action is well described and exciting and overall I found this a clever, flowing read with decent characterisation to be built upon and expanded in the future stories that I'm sure will appear.

Happy Reading Folks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zeb Is My Hero! If Only He Were Real! March 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
When Zeb is restless, when he is depressed, when he wants to speak he goes to the tabla. He sinks into the sidda and the dagga and he escapes for awhile. When he is out in the world, he plays in his head to keep him calm, quiet... For the work he does, these are traits that he cannot afford to lose...

His latest trip to Africa forced him to mindfully play, after he had seen what he had seen--and even then the rage boiled within him. Unfortunately, he had come to the village alone. He was only supposed to watch and return. But after watching about 40 soldiers come and he heard the screams, of women and children, shots and other sounds of violence, he called in to his contact, he knew he would also go in...

After the soldiers left, there were only 6 left in camp; and then there were 3... The others got away before Zeb could get to them...

No matter, he knew he would find them, sooner or later...

He had been in Special Forces but now as an independent contractor, he did what he wanted, what he thought was right to do...All of these white men would pay for what they had done in that small village...

What Zeb had learned in the military combined with his martial arts and what he learned from his garu teacher made him a special man, one that was formidable, one whose inner emotions could be felt by those near him...

His rage could make strong men back away from him...

On returning to the U.S., after debriefing, he went to visit his sister, who was also a government official. Soon he met her neighbors, by having their son, Rory rigidly question what he was doing in Cassandra's home. Quite a young man, who will play an important role to Zeb, and others...
