Book Description

In 1888, two brothers, Jack, a criminal recluse, and John, a society gentleman, live in opposite ends of Victorian London. When John falls in love, unspoken bonds are tested, unwittingly exposing secrets guarded since his childhood.

Horrified by links to London's underworld, and appalled by the extent of his brother's jealousy, John soon realises that these secrets not only affect his past, but also threaten to affect his future.

The Watcher is constructed around facts of the Jack the Ripper case, incorporating popular myths and theories. Through fiction, it examines the Jack the Ripper murders in a way that has never before been explored.

Why did Jack the Ripper commit such terrible crimes? What might have made him into such a monster? Why did the murders start then just as swiftly end?

This is a different type of Jack the Ripper story, not a 'whodunnit', but rather, a 'why' they 'dunnit'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding Murder Mystery December 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This thriller grabbed me from the start. John and Jack; good and evil. The story kept me enthralled, wanting to know what would happen next. I hesitate to say too much, as I don't want to take away any of the suspense! I will say the author does a great job of leading you to differing conclusions regarding what's happening. Just when I thought I had it figured out, he threw in another twist to the plot! I found myself gasping out loud several times in shock as I read. I recommend this book highly to anyone who likes a murder mystery!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Story , Bad Proofreading September 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the story, but I was VERY irritated by the incorrect usage, poor grammar, and inconsistent punctuation here and there throughout the book! It was SO distracting for me...

Didn't ANYONE proofread this book before making it available to the general public??

4.0 out of 5 stars Innovative twist on Jack the Ripper May 21, 2014
By Angel
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a little different take on the Jack the Ripper case. An interesting take on what could have happened. The author takes you on an adventure where you cringe at the cruelty of Jack and then a turn in the story makes you feel sorry for the protagonist. I liked the family background that lets you delve into why a person might be this way.

The descriptions of London during this time period make you feel as if you're in the filthy ally or street looking at the poor people who are just trying to make ends meet. You can almost smell the smells. I'll look for more by this author.
