This EP gives us a reminder of what great musical talent actually is. Coming from the band, the Alternate Routes, it's a no-brainer of being a good EP to buy. This album has everything - nostalogia, soaring guitars, harmony, and just good fun tunes. It's definately worth the 5 bucks. Go for it...I promise you won't regret it.
I've been listening to the band for over a while now, and this EP shows that they still are growing as a band when I thought they couldn't get better. It makes me even more excited for their album coming out in the beginning of 2009. This whole EP sounds great and gives the new listener a glimpse of the diversity of what these boys from Connecticut can do. Excellent mixing, good sound, great harmonies. Love Me For Nothing has honest, great lyrics combined with a tune that will stick with you. Shelly is a great song that's easy to relate to about a past love. Louisiana pays homage to country and blues while still being an amazing rock tune. It has great lyrics that pay homage to a post-Katrina south without being depressing.
Asked You Twice has wicked harmonica combined with the great guitar of Eric Donnelly. The chorus is infectious...and hilarious. Good Time Gang is explosively amazing with killer drums, nice background harmonies and clever lyrics. It will put you in a good mood instantly. Buy this EP, you won't regret it, I promise.
