Editorial Reviews

Tom Keifer's debut solo album, The Way Life Goes, ranges from intimate, organic, acoustic tracks to driving hard rock. It embraces the blues, rock and country roots that have always been present in his unique sound that has generated the sale of over 15 million records worldwide for Cinderella.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tom Keifer Delivers in Exceptional Style! April 30, 2013
Format:Audio CD
When I first heard "Solid Ground" earlier this year, I knew we were in for a treat. This opening track reminds me a little bit of my favorite Cinderella song, "Bad Seamstress Blues." This album is not a rocker from start to finish the way Night Songs or Long Cold Winter are, but that is what makes this album brilliant. Tom tackles multiple styles and genres here, but they all feel natural and work very well. His unique voice has always been one of my favorites in rock and roll, and the diversity featured on this album helps to highlight all he can really do. Many of the songs have that signature Tom Keifer blues tinge, which is something that always set the Cinderella catalog apart from the Hair Metal genre for me. No matter where he goes musically, you are never too far from the comforting twang of slide guitar. I recommend this album not only to Cinderella fans ready for something more, but to anyone who wants to experience a musical journey. The Way Life Goes plays as a fluid, powerful album and is one of the best albums I have ever heard in terms of great songs from track 1 to track 14.

Imagine the Stones and Aerosmith still wrote killer tunes , throw in some Cinderella and a bit of the Beatles and what you have is " The Way Life Goes " its amazing from start to finish . I've listen to at least a dozen times now , and every time I find a new favorite song . The wait was worth it . Thanks Tom !

I was a huge Cinderella fan in the good old days so I was expecting a more rocking album from Tom. That said, I can still recognize and appreciate great songwriting and great playing. This album has both great songs and performances. Highly recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly amazing after all he has been through... May 2, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
With help from his wife whom he seems to completely adore, as he should, Tom has wrote an amazing record. Sadly, with todays age and mainstream media this record will be overlooked or pushed under the rug. This record is very good perhaps even great. You have to appreciate what Tom has done here as he has had vocal surgery and was told by many not to sing or that he wouldn't ever sing as good as he once did. He proved them all wrong with this release. He has been working hard for ten years to put together a real record of hits not just one hit and the rest fillers like many today seem to do. Tom Keifer's record has blues, rock, and perhaps even a subtle hint of country. He dedicated and wrote a song entirely for his wife, who also helped Tom write some of these songs on here.
Cold Day In Hell, is probably the biggest CLASSIC ROCK/Cinderella like song on here. Ask me Yesterday, is a hit also ,as it is a softer side to Tom and just has a good flow to it. The Flower Song, reminds me of a Mick Jagger/Rolling Stones song and that isn't a bad thing. It may not be Cinderella but it's very good and Keifer pretty much WAS Cinderella, not to discredit the band in anyway though. Thumbs up Mr. Keifer.

I was a HUGE fan of Cinderella back in the 80s-90s. I always mention them as one of my favorite bands of all-time along with KISS, Aerosmith, AC/DC and Tesla. One thing I always loved about most of those bands I mentioned where the abundance of blues in their music. I was hoping for the next Cinderella album with this release and I did not get that. However, I am not disappointed at all with this effort. There are a couple of songs that would fit right in with the traditional Cinderella sound, but there are also some ventures into other styles on this album. Some of it sounds a little country, some a little metal, some of it soft and some of it heavy, some of it rock and some of it blues; but it is all great! Now I just beg Mr. Keifer not to make us wait as long for his next release. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!!!! May 2, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
The triumph return of Tom Keifer (and possibly Cinderella somewhere down the road???) is nothing less than a great bluesy-rock album that any fan of good music will instantly connect with and love. From rockers like Solid Ground, Cold Day In Hell and Ain't That A Bitch to the more mellow feel of A Different Light and The Flower Song, Keifer's vocal performance does not miss a note. Definitely recommend this album to anyone who wants to just kick back and rock out to some great tunes!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahhh Yes May 1, 2013
Format:Audio CD
FINALLY!!! Some good ol' fashioned "proper" rock and roll. Tom has spread his wings and is backed by a killer rhythm section that accentuates his creativity as a great song writer. Writing a unique rock song ain't no easy task and Tom has really put together a collection of classics on this one. Check out the voice! He really stretched his pipes, using his middle voice much more than before. Really gives a whole new dimension to his music. Nothing pretentious, all really REALLY strong tunes. "In a Different Light" - are you kidding me??? What an awesome chorus jump - Brilliant! SINGLE! Got to say my favorite rockers so far are "Cold Day in Hell" and "Babylon". Cold Day stands up to any classic rocker I have ever heard bar none. If that ain't a single someone needs to go. All superlatives Tom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Album May 11, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I'm one of those people that thought Cinderella was the best of the hair bands. I guess they fall in that category due to their appearance not the music. While other bands made fools of themselves and their music, Cinderella (you could say Tom Keifer) just focused on writing good music instead.

This is a good rock album. You a wide variety from hard rockers to balads. I pretty much stopped listening to the radio as I don't like most of the new "rock" that's played on the soundswaves. That's why hearing a CD like this is refreshing. Tom's voioce sounds great considering what he's been through. Hope he keeps on making new music and please don't take another 15 years.
