Book Description

August 23, 2011

The perennial New York Times bestselling author helps readers discover how to put money in its place and use wealth-building as a tool for joy and fulfillment.

Hill Harper is uniquely poised to guide readers through tough times and offers bestselling advice for reaping the rewards of a truly happy life. With The Wealth Cure, he does more than that: He presents a revolutionary new definition of wealth, motivating readers to not only build financial security but to also achieve wealth in every aspect of their lives.

Using his own journey as a parable, Harper inspires the reader to evaluate their values while explaining the importance of laying a sound financial foundation and how to recognize the worth of your relationships and increase the value of your interactions with the people in your life. Drawing on his personal recollections and true stories from family and friends, Harper helps readers begin to see money not as a goal but as a tool that provides freedom for following their passions. The keys include investing in yourself, tapping the resources you need, and taking responsibility for how those resources are used. Far from a get-rich-quick primer, The Wealth Cure brims with inspired wisdom for building a lasting bounty from the experiences, loved ones, and achievements that really matter.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“This is a different kind of financial book, one that not only urges us to look at how we use our money but also at how we define wealth. It's as much about personal philosophy as about advice on building a solid financial future.”
(USA Today )

The Wealth Cure could fit comfortably in the self-help or personal finance aisle, melding together life strategies, wisdom from family and strangers he meets on a cross-country train ride, and nuts-and-bolts budgeting advice. It's a guide that doesn't promise to get you rich quick, but to quickly help your life get richer.”
(AOL Daily Finance )

“Too many of us think we don't have the ability to better identify how to spend our money, but in Hill Harper's latest book he gives advice on simple ways to save more and admits some of his own financial and personal challenges.”
(Chicagotribune.com ) --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Develop Your Wealth Happiness Factor August 30, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Hill Harper, the New York Times bestselling author and star of the TV series CSI: NY, has just released his fourth book, The Wealth Cure. This is a book on financial literacy, but not in the traditional sense. This book deals with being responsible for your own actions and your attitude toward life's problems, both financial and emotional, and helps you understand your personal wealth factors.
After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, Hill takes a cross-country train trip to Chicago to have the solitude and time to reevaluate his life and his value propositions. Hill points out that true wealth is not always money, but it is your friends, your family, your health and your happiness factor. Money in and of itself does not guarantee happiness, but as Hill says, it does help to have your financial world running properly with little or no debt.
In essence, the book points out that we are responsible for our own actions and how we react to the situations we are exposed to. We need to look at problems as opportunities for improvement. It is how we react to these problems that will determine our happiness factor.
Hill Harper walks us through his emotions and reactions to his cancer diagnosis and how it allowed him to rethink and reevaluate his personal relationships and goals. This book is not for the people looking for the quick fix and easy solutions. It is for those who want to take control of their lives, make the difficult decisions and then take appropriate actions on those decisions.

The Wealth Cure is truly a must read book. I enjoyed learning how to transform my life in order to live a healthier, wiser, and inspiring life. I love the fact that Hill Harper touched on many aspects of one's life outside of the financial well-being. What I take away most from this book is being able to live a prosper life without being in debt. Moreover, forming your "Mastermind Circle", establishing your "Personal Board of Directors," and striving for "Unreasonable Happiness" are just a few noteworthy elements that will remain embedded in my mind and spirit. Great work Hill Harper. Continue to write inspirational books that move people to think beyond the now and transition their thinking towards the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read September 4, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I finished this book quickly and found it an easy read. It is things we may know but forget to focus on and things that we need to address but again don't focus on.

I really enjoyed the book and it has me thinking seriously about some habits that I need to break around money and my views on wealth and what is really means to be wealthy.

Love his take on debt and that credit lenders have us "enslaved" - sad but true...we create debt and than are bound by debt and the cycle has to be broken by striving to live debt free. He is on point...on point....
