From Booklist

Jared Butler has sold the movie rights to his book about the legendary Lady Aislinn to secure the funds necessary to continue his dig at her castle. Unfortunately, he also has to host the actress who wants to immerse herself in this corner of Scotland so she can play Lady Aislinn with some authenticity. Weary of being known only as Jade Star, action hero, Emma is anxious to begin preparing for her newest role. She is stunned to discover that Dr. Jared Butler is not a small nerdy man in tweed, but rather a large, craggy, and very surly Scot. Jared thinks she is beautiful, but is certain that she is also a stereotypical spoiled Hollywood diva. But as Emma reveals her true self, Jared lets her into his own personal turmoil. Once again, Cates creates characters so real they jump off the page as she takes readers on a journey into the depths of despair and the heights of happiness. Maria Hatton

Product Description

Fame, fortune and true love...Emma McDaniel thought she had it all.

But stardom came at great personal cost--a painful divorce from her childhood sweetheart and the shattering of all her dreams. Fleeing the press and her own despair, Emma heads to Scotland for the role of a lifetime. There, brooding historian Dr. Jared Butler will help her become the legendary Lady Aislinn...unless his surly attitude tempts Emma to slay him with the lady's sword first.

Scarred by a disastrous marriage of his own, Jared has little use for women--and none at all for pampered starlets. But as the two lose themselves in the lore of the past, Jared is stunned to find in Emma a kindred spirit. Will he dare to leave the safety of his history books and risk his heart with a woman of flesh and blood?

4.0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2 stars..., June 1, 2007
Actress Emma McDaniel has been offered the role of a lifetime. Finally given the opportunity to break out of the artistic shell she was put in, Emma is looking forward to spending six weeks in the Scottish countryside learning about Lady Aislinn, the valiant woman she will portray on the big screen. After a heartbreaking divorce that was splashed all over the tabloids, Emma is looking forward to the peace of being in Scotland. Unfortunately the guide she expected is far from the grizzly old professor image she had built in her mind. Instead she found herself face to face with a man that she was instantly attracted to. It was too bad that his disdain for her was clear on his face.

Dr. Jared Butler is passionate about telling the story of Lady Aislinn. He knows that Emma McDaniel is far from the actress needed to fill the roll. Though he's never seen her movies, he is sure that she doesn't have the talent needed to play a character such as Lady Aislinn. All he can do is hope to drive her off his site. It was just bad luck that he felt an instant attraction for the woman.

A word of caution: This book starts off very slow. There is a lot of history regarding Lady Aislinn thrown in. There is also a lot of self-loathing thoughts that both the characters have. It does pick up about halfway through and is worth the read. You can literally feel Jared's confusion and his internal battle that he has going on with himself. With Emma, you just love her. She is a great heroine that deserves far better than what she got. Both characters are loveable and you will be happy with the conclusion to their story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feel Good Read!, June 11, 2007
If you're looking for the kind of book that keeps you up all night turning the pages and leaves you with misty eyes and that warm tingling in your stomach, pick up The Wedding Dress today.

I loved the characters, the storyline...I loved the whole shebang! The hero is a 5 star sexy Scottish hunk and the heroine is a strong and independent woman. Their dialogue will have you laughing and crying. Their love story will have you sighing.

Lots of complexities get thrown into the mix as medieval Scottish lore adds intrigue and tension to Jared and Emma's budding relationship. This was the first Kimberly Cates book I picked up and after reading it, I can't wait to buy the rest of her titles. I'd recommend this read to anyone--finally a contemporary author who's smart, witty, and who knows how to write a romance!

5.0 out of 5 stars LISTEN UP, LLMiller & JQuinn fans.... this book is great!, May 16, 2007
Bought this book because it was recommended by Linda Lael Miller on the cover who said "I'm always delighted by (Kimberly Cates') books". So I thought I'd try it. What a wonderful story! This book includes a modern day story and and ancient Scotland story. The characters are great: Jared as the emotionally isolated, grumpy, sexy archeologist and Emma as the very down-to-earth and love-shy actress out to prove she can wield a medieval sword. Apparently, this book is part of a series about a very loving, quirky family (very Nora Roberts-ish). The ancient story is an added bonus, as well as the story of the college students working at the dig site. The book grabs your heart... and is very sexy, too. I plan to go read all the books I can find by Kimberly Cates; I'm very excited to discover a Romance writer I like! By the way, my favorites in addition to LLMiller, JQuinn, and NRoberts include LKleypas, SEnoch, SJeffries to give you an idea of what I like.
