The Butternut Creek series continues as top enjoyable reading. If you missed the first 2 installments of the Butternut Creek "Widows'" matchmaking barrage toward the new young Pastor Adam, NO FEAR! Jane Myers Perrine nicely reintroduces the 4 widows as well as the freshest and only living, breathing, eligible helpmate for Adam in the short prologue. Then, off to more Texas village charm, gossip, meddling, and as the book covers suggests, a wedding. Who answers, "I do?"

It's no longer correct to relate Butternut Creek to Jane Karon's Mitford. Creek County has its own quirky charisma. More endearing because it lives on; new twists and turns breathed into the lives of the tiny community.
There is found a wrath of personal conflicts, stormy days, coveting, church issues, machinations, heartaches, and bliss's--all a part of the soul, joy, & bane of smallvilles like Butternut Creek, where matchmaking is not necessarily a singular project. Even the "Widows" find cacophony in trying to get multiple names on the marriage license line.

Jane Myers Perrine is an author of "fun-ciful" reading. Can't wait to see what comes next from her imagination.

Be sure to back up, if you have not already experienced the humor and emotions of:
Book One:
The Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek: A Novel
Book Two:
The Matchmakers of Butternut Creek: A Novel

This Christian fiction is a fun book to read. There are several humorous moments. Two I particularly enjoyed are the scene where Hannah and Gabe are first pushed together by the Widows, and Charley and the ceiling tiles. It takes talent to write such funny stuff.

Butternut Creek is a place I'd like to live. It's a small town filled with people who care, led by the Widows, an important group of church ladies, who live to inflict their will on others (ahem) serve.

Romance blossoms whenever the Widows spot any single. I like the way the author tells the story of love blooming.

Reading Group Guide is included.

Thank you to Sarah Reck at Hachette Book Group for my copy.

I have been in love with the Butternut Creek series from author Jane Myers Perrine since the first novel. The cast of characters she has so lovingly created that live in the small town are rich in humor, love and purpose. If you haven't read any of them, please start at the beginning with The Welcoming Committee of Butternut Creek, then The Matchmakers of Butternut Creek before picking up The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek.

In this small town, are a group of older women simply known as the Widows. Most of them are just that, widowed elderly women who have taken it upon themselves to help the town out wherever needs prevail. The leader, a woman known as Birdie or Miss Birdie is Birdie Macdowell. She is the voice of the entire group and is often strong willed and blunt but she means well in what she does. Her goal since the series began was to find their new minister, Adam Jordan, a wife. In a town this small, where the elderly greatly outnumber the younger, this poses a problem. Especially when Adam digs his feet in and kindly thanks the Widows for their well meaning intention, but he isn't interested.

When he met Gussie Milton, he wasn't interested in love, but over time, he found the perfect wife to be in her. But in the time he has taken to get to know her, the Widows feel he is dragging his feet and they firmly resolve to get them engaged, married and procreating to fill up the house the pastor is residing in. Now they simply need to make sure he understands just how committed they will need to be. Armed with more than good intentions the Widows of Butternut Creek are about to move their plans into the next phase and understand there is a wedding in the future. They just need to convince Adam it's time to propose and they intend on helping him do just that.

The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek by Jane Myers Perrine was a delight to read. This book is the third in the Butternut Creek series, the first two books being The Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek and The Matchmakers of Butternut Creek. While they can be read as stand-alone books, I believe I would have had more fun reading Ms. Perrine's newest book if I had read the two previous books and got to know the characters earlier.

I must say that this book is full of characters that have a lot of character. Ms. Perrine has created a town that some might compare to Jane Karon's wonderful town of Mitford. But Butternut Creek has just as much charm as the characters that inhabit the town. Four wonderful matchmaking widows, a young pastor that is the target for their matchmaking early on in the book (and obviously a continuation from the earlier books). When the pastor's sister returns to Butternut Creek the meddling matchmaking widows find new prey for their matchmaking skills.

A wedding does take place but who gets married is a question you will have to find out for yourself as I do not like to give out spoilers. But I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

If you like reading books that are just plain fun and entertaining then Jane Myers Perrine, The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek is a book you will enjoy!

On a 5-Star Scale - Four Stars!!!!

I would like to thank Sarah Reck and Faithwords, a division of Hachette Book Group for my copy of The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek. I received my copy for free in order to read and give my honest review which I have done.
