Editorial Reviews

Review

A good story, good writing, and a good finish add up to a great offering from this new novelist. The protagonist, a down-to-earth veterinarian, has his world turned upside down by the re-emergence of a childhood nemesis. The real bad guy is even closer to home. The story flows, the plot engages, and the ending satisfies. A good read.

I was drawn in early, and the pace kept me reading. Nicely written, smooth, and full of interesting wisdom delivered in a sardonic tone. I am going out to buy myself my own little owl. Great usage of the difficult first-person perspective. Recommend.
-Independent Book Reviews

One of the most enjoyable books I have read in a long time
I found this book in a search for new novels. I simply loved this book! I am a bit of a sap myself, and that plays into it, but I really enjoyed this! I am also shameleslly in love with the main character, Mark -- lol Mark! Dump Sarah and go out with me!
-Mindy Mineo, Long Island Book Club

Great, light, fun read
Clever, funny, fast-moving. I enjoyed the wit of the narrator a great deal. Nice story. Nicely written. Good ending. Especially liked the scene with the dolphins.
-Arthur Caliendo, Cleveland Fiction Hawks

From the Author

The Whining Mill is my first full foray into the vast genre of fiction - although fiction has always been my favorite genre as a reader. I hope you enjoy this work.

You will not be disappointed by this book from a promising new author. If you are a fan of Harlen Coben's Myron Bolitar series, you wil absolutely love the self-deprecating wit and style of the thoroughly likeable veterinarian Dr. Mark Canis. The book is fast paced, funny, a great mystery, and leaves you hoping for a sequel!

Great read!! First time novelist nails it!!Don't be surprised by the story's ability to suck you in like quicksand. The outstanding grammar gives it a very traditional feel, whilst the transitioning of emotions throughout is cutting edge. The book will bring you from suspense, to comedy, sadness, arousal, anger, and frustration and all the way back again.
Very fast paced, got it done in 2.5 hours.

All animal lovers will enjoy this book. It's a page turner with lots of twists. I look forward to more books by this author- possibly with the same protagonist. Creative and well written.

This book is a refreshing read - clever, fast-paced, fun and uplifting. The characters are different and likable, and there are plenty of good and unexpected plot twists. Some passages made me laugh out loud. A terrific and original first novel for this author. Hoping that we can see more from him soon.
