Editorial Reviews

Filmed at The Summit in Houston, Texas on November 20th 1975, this film captures a typically incendiary live performance by The Who at the start of the US leg of their tour in support of The Who By Numbers album which had been released earlier that year. The original video footage has been cleaned and the sound remixed by longtime Who collaborator Jon Astley but the show still retains a rawness that encapsulates the energy of The Who's performance. The set list stretches across the band's career from classic early singles such as My Generation and Substitute through an extensive Tommy section and up to tracks from the then newly released By Numbers. / Line-up:
Roger Daltrey (vocals, harmonica); Pete Townshend (guitar, vocals); John Entwistle (bass, vocals); Keith Moon (drums, vocals) / Track Listing:
1) Substitute 2) I Can t Explain 3) Squeeze Box 4) Baba O Riley 5) Boris The Spider 6) Drowned 7) However Much I Booze 8) Dreaming From The Waist 9) Behind Blue Eyes 10) Amazing Journey 11) Sparks 12) Acid Queen 13) Fiddle About 14) Pinball Wizard 15) I'm Free 16) Tommy's Holiday Camp 17) We're Not Going To Take It / See Me, Feel Me / Listening To You 18) Summertime Blues 19) My Generation 20) Join Together 21) Naked Eye 22) Roadrunner 23) Won't Get Fooled Again 24) Magic Bus 25) My Generation Blues

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun show! October 12, 2012
Format:DVD
First off to some who are griping about the audio and picture quality this was filmed in 1975 and NEVER intended for official release. It was the arenas two camera system so yes its blurry and tends to focus on the front of the band mainly Roger and Pete and less on Moonie and the OX. I deduct a star for that but its the limitations of 1970's filming. Once you get over that its a pretty good show. Although not a LEEDS or even Kilburn performance this shows a band clearly having fun and glad to be touring America again. I for one am glad I bought the DVD. I tip my hat off to the people who made sure this actually got filmed warts and all. I consider it a ticket to the past that I am glad to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Hesitate October 15, 2012
Format:DVD
This show has been available on bootleg for many years and now has an official release. The picture quality is marginally better than the bootleg version, but the sound has been improved considerably by Jon Astley's restoration and the 'missing' audio from Squeeze Box has been reinstated. Nevertheless, the picture and sound quality are inferior to modern standards and the camera work is basic to say the least. However, it must be remembered that this is a historic record of the band's classic line up in full flight from one of the strongest periods for live performances in its career. The technical quality of the recording shows its limitations, but the performance is a real treat. This should be one of those DVDs that is played to show anyone unfamiliar with The Who's work just what the fuss was all about and why they were often rated as the best live act of their era.

By Chris
Format:DVD
One of the best Who concerts on video. They were
clearly at the top of their game.Keith was showing no signs that he was in decline,
and Roger and Pete sounded great vocally .
The mix and remastering are superb and a welcome addition to the Who catalog.

4.0 out of 5 stars great show
This show has been floating around as a bootleg for year, now there is a santioned copy. Good show in what I consider The Who's prime. Good setlist as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it perfect, no? Five Stars, yes.
There are plenty of negatives involved here:
1. Basically two camera angles, and one is sparsely utilized because it's obstructed by fans in the front.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's good
There isn't a lot of video from this period - the video and audio quality of this has been criticized, but the mastering engineers did a pretty good job with what they had. Read more
