This new cookbook by Levana Kirschenbaum is a clear, concise, well organized, interesting, intriguing cookbook. As a self proclaimed cookbook junkie I collect them and take them out of the library for fun; in addition to subscribing to all the cooking magazines and watching cooking shows. This book is by far the best I have come across in a long time. The directions are easy to follow, the ingredients readily available and the complex combinations of flavors varied.
I can't wait to try the recipes (many of which I exclaimed over: so THAT is how that is made!)
I love the ideas and all the new ideas sound so do-able. The combinations are interesting and diverse.
This cookbook will call to you to explore, like a foreign country, and make yourself at home.

This cookbook is as amazing as Levana's first cookbook - but with a healthy twist! I highly recommend it! Also, has lots of vegetarian/vegan recipes!

I like to cook and in general, I don't like to use cookbooks. I like to just walk into my kitchen, see what's there and go at it. I made an exception for this cookbook b/c it had a picure of Levana hammering a gourd and I have said for many years that every woman should have a hammer in her kitchen. Now I must admit that this is the best cookbook I have seen in a long time!!!! Maybe ever. I bought it after a cooking demonstration by Levana herself, so I was inspired. I have already made the miso soup which was a big hit!!!! The recipes are healthy, user-friendly and everything is presented in a way that makes you feel Levana is standing beside you herself encouraging you to try new ingredients, new cooking techniques and dishes you never knew you could cook at home! I have only two regrets. One regret is that I am these days mostly only cooking for three and my other regret is that I did not take the opportunity to buy her first cookbook that night which I realize now is out of print. I recommend you buy this one before you can't. Two days later, I sent a copy from Amazon to my married daughter in Florida. I know she will love it too!

This is an absolutely beautiful book and would make a really great wedding or housewarming gift. This is one of those beautiful cookbooks that is fun to look at (I love looking through a pretty cookbook for inspiration!), but better yet, the recipes are totally doable. The few ingredients that she calls for that are a little unusual are what set her apart. If you add the creme de cassis to her fruit salad, everyone will be talking (and most of these unusual ingredients are worth it--buy it once and you have it for ages). Her recipes are elegant, simple to prepare and healthy. It's really the perfect combination.

After my wife and I have purchased this book it truly changed our outlook on what we thought was "Jewish cuisine". This book introduces you to array of world cuisines plus new spin on traditional favorites ,ease with receipies can be made ,
healthy bottom line and on the top of that MOST IMPORTANT how tasty all these dishes are ,that what separates this book from all other Jewish cookbooks and puts it on whole other level above them all.
Book itself is beautiful and fun to read and they way it constructed with Levana's passages and comments you almost feel expert chef herself guiding you . My personal favorites in this book are "Roasted Salmon with Maple Glaze", which incredibly tasty and melts in your mouth unlike those salmon dishes you might have tasted elsewhere that have consistency petrified wood , and "potato, olive, and tomato tajine" which is incredibly warming and savory. In conclusion this book is not your usual dust collector as many cookbooks are , but your companion in the kitchen making your life easier and at the same time richer . Thank You Levana.

Levana Kirschenbaum has done it again! The Whole Foods cookbook is going to keep us all on the right path. This is a thoughtfully written and beautifully illustrated cookbook, complete with healthy tips and suggestions on how to eat the right way. I have tried many of the recipes already and look forward to trying more. \

This is cooking the way I like it- fresh clean thoughtful and ingredients-driven with just the right dash of creative and fun. U can feel the passion oozing from each synopsis and recipe leaving you with no doubt that the food presented will be just as inspiring. I have had this cookbook for a few weeks now and have enjoyed it immensely as have those who are lucky enough to taste the results! Thanks levana for a great addition to the kitchens of those who love to cook but not fuss

This gorgeous volume covers a wide range of categories while showing the home cook how to achieve delicious results with simple techniques. Levana's years of experience as restauranteur, caterer, cooking instructor and home entertainer give her the confidence to tackle it all. She encourages pure foods, accessible ingredients and a wide array of flavors, illuminating some wonderful new ideas. She clearly codes every recipe: meat, dairy, parave, gluten free, Passover, etc..
This volume would be a great addition to any home cook's library and would make an outstanding and treasured gift.
