“The prostate, a small and enigmatic organ near the bladder in all male mammals, appears to be disproportionately afflicted by a bewildering collection of conditions as men age. This book captures the wisdom of Dr. H. Ballentine Carter, the most thoughtful urologist in the world today and a renowned expert on the detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of prostate diseases. Writing with Gerald Couzens, a seasoned medical author, the prostate health information delivered is not only definitive but remarkably accessible—with myth busters, red flags, and takeaways provided to guide as well as inform men confronting prostate diseases. The book is certain to become required reading for men of all ages, and for their loved ones, as they seek to live longer, healthier, and happier lives.”
—William G. Nelson, MD, PhD, Director, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins Hospital
“This comprehensive resource will be for men what Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book is for women. Highly recommended.”

That's where this book steps in. It's a completely straightforward, no-nonsense guide to keeping your prostate in top health, all the time. Whether you are a young man or a venerable senior, the exercises, diet, and lifestyle information will help keep that vital gland in good shape.
This is one of those books that will be so useful to people who have begun the unnecessary decline wrongly associated with aging in our culture. (Get Fit in Bed: Tone Your Body & Calm Your Mind from the Comfort of Your Bed is another such book -- great if you've been "knocked down" by aging.) Even if you are in the "fixing the damage" stage rather than the prevention stage, you will find this book very helpful.
It is astonishing that this book purporting to be an "empowering manual for maintaining optimal health throughout a man's life," health of the prostate, that is, and is otherwise very easy to read and informative, would leave out such a major concern for men. What this kind of omission does is foster doubt over the book's thoroughness and credibility, even competency. This is a major problem for a book on such an important area of men's health. This book should only be one of several to read on prostate disease, you never know what else Dr. Carter may have left out.
