I first heard the son of Americana legend Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Colin, at the a Nick :Lowe Tribute concert at last year's Americana Music Conference in Nashville. I liked his first CD and now comes this new one. The Austin-based singer-songwriter-musician sure has a lot of friends in the Austin music community. You know that the minute you open the digipak that contains the CD with 10 Gilmore songs. I counted 20 "guests" - in addition to the four musicians in his core band. One of my Austin fav's, Amanda Shires, provides fiddle and backing vocals on one song and the closer, "Raging Eyes" has guest musicians and vocalists backing Gilmore who I think has a lot of Buddy Holly in his voice, and especially in this upbeat number.

Try a few samples and see what you think.

Production credits, and all those guest names - plus a photo of Gilmore- fill the inside of the package. No lyrics or notes are included.

Gilmore's apparently been a big hit in Texas, and I think it's only time before the Americana fans in the rest of the country and overseas will discover him.
I hope you found this review both informative and helpful.
