Book Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.

Camille "Cami" Hines is the darling daughter of the South's champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father's best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.

But that was before she met Patrick Henley.

"Trick" blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He's considered the "help," which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.

The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.

When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there's more to Trick's presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.

**MATURE CONTENT ADVISORY: May not be suitable for younger readers**

About Michelle: I love coffee and chocolate, even more so when they are combined. I'm convinced that one day they could be the basis for world peace. I also love the color red and am seriously considering dying my hair.

Review

Reaching into his pocket, Hot Stranger pulls out a couple bills and slides them across the bar. "Another of whatever..." He trails off, looking at me in question, waiting for me to fill in the blank.

"Cami," I say, trying to hold back my grin.

Smooth way of getting my name. Chalk one up for Hot Stranger.

"Another of whatever Cami is having." He turns back to me, a wicked gleam in his smoky eyes. "Sorry about your drink. Not so much about your shirt, though," he admits candidly.

Willing myself not to blush again, I tilt my head. "So, do clumsy strangers have names in this place? Or are you just called 'bull in china shop'?"

The lopsided grin comes back. "Patrick, but my friends call me Trick."

"Trick? As in trick or treat? That kind of trick?"

He laughs and my stomach flutters. It actually flutters. "Yep. That kind of trick." He sobers and leans in close to me. "Cami, can I ask a favor?"

I'm breathless again. He's so close I can count every hair in the stubble that dusts his tan cheeks. For just a second, his clean manly scent overrides the cigarette smoke and stale beer smell of the bar.

I lose my voice--again--so I nod.

"Pick 'treat.' Please, for the love of God, pick 'treat'."

Like an idiot, I say nothing. I do nothing. I simply stare. Like a...a...well, like an idiot.

He makes a disappointed noise with his lips then starts shaking his head. "Too bad. Woulda made my night." He straightens, takes a step back and smiles at me again. "Nice to meet you, Cami," he says, and then he turns and melts into the crowd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good God - What A COVER! August 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have tried other M. Leighton books, but this is the first one that I really liked. It was romantic without being cheesy, sensual without being sleazy and it was about TRUE LOVE which is always delightful to read about.

In a nutshell, Cami is dating the safe guy her rich father approves of but is passionate about the guy that works in her barn. Not wanting to go against her father's wishes, Cami takes her time agonizing over her desire for Trick and her loyalty to Brent. Finally, she can take it no more and chooses Trick and is deliriously happy until "the other shoe drops". Family history has a secret that tears them apart and tests their love for each other.

I am a definite fan of alternating points of views, so I loved it in this story. I love knowing what each character is really feeling and being "in the know" over their heartaches and jealousies, true love or imaginary. I also really like reading a book from a guy's POV. Sometimes it isn't realistic, but it is ROMANTIC. I want Jenna as my best friend. She is hilarious and outspoken. Too Funny! I love a girl that says what she is thinking. She reminds me of my other favorite best friend, Payton from Going Under by Georgia Cates.

There is a subtle parallel of the horse Highland Runner and Trick. Because Highland Runner doesn't cost much, Cami's father Jack thinks he's worthless and because Trick is poor, Jack thinks he is worthless. Jack couldn't be more wrong on both counts. Trick's way with horses reminds me of Sean in Maggie Stiefvater's The Scorpio Races.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Autumn Review for The Wild Ones July 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Occasionally, a book will come along and blow me away. Well, this was one of those books. I can honestly tell you that this is one of my top books of the year and easily one of my new all-time favorites. I couldn't put the book down. The best word to describe this book is...GORGEOUS! I already want to read it again.

I really, truly loved Cami. I love how true to herself she is. She absolutely can't fight her attraction to Trick and she takes a chance on him. She believes in him, trusts him, and can't keep her hands off him. Not that I blame her. That boy is smokin! I loved that she finally stood up to her father. She believed in the love that she and Trick had. It was such a beautiful love story.

Trick is such a good guy. He knows he's hot and he definitely plays that up, but he's not arrogant about it. He's a hard worker and is dedicated to his family. When Trick makes a commitment, he's all in. He's a man who is gentle when he needs to be and rougher when he wants to have a little fun. He loves Cami for who she is. Trick is easily one of the best male leads I've ever met.

I absolutely LOVED Jenna. She had me cracking up in every scene she's in. She's honest to a fault and is a true friend to Cami. I also loved that she and Rusty got together. They are so cute!

I really could go on and on about how much I loved this book. I have so many pages highlighted, it's ridiculous! Line for line the story kept me entertained. I laughed, cried, had to cool myself off from all the steamy moments, and I felt the love. I mean, really felt it. My heart was so full at the end of this book.

M. Leighton has delivered a masterpiece. As a fan of her work, I knew this was going to be a story that I loved, but in my opinion, this is her best book to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Wild Ones November 13, 2012
Format:Paperback
I saw so, so many rave reviews for The Wild Ones before I signed up for the blog tour. I was really excited to read it, and then last week, right before I picked up the book to start, I got a little nervous. I don't read too many "hyped" books right away for my blog. I normally wait a little while. What if I didn't love it as much as everyone? My expectations were pretty high, so I was slightly worried that it wouldn't measure up. Boy was I wrong? I LOVED The Wild Ones. It is one of those books that deserves every bit of praise it got, and then some.

I am such a character driven reader, that if you give me awesome characters that I can relate to, or that make me feel something towards them- it almost guarantees that I will enjoy a book. And The Wild Ones has such great characters. Trick is amazing and Cami is pretty cool herself. I loved that neither character could fit into their own stereotypical box. Trick was a little bit of a player, at least he was used to girls liking him, but he is also so sweet and caring and responsible. He is so hardworking! I admired him- in more than one way. ;) Plus, it doesn't hurt that he is super hot. I mean really hot, some of the things that he said- OH BOY! He had me right from the beginning when he said "please choose treat". Shoot, he can be my treat any day! And Cami and kind and generous, but also feisty I loved the extra flare that she brought to the story.

The Wild Ones seriously has it all. It reminded me of an Abbi Glines New Adult book, and you guys know how much I love Abbi! It is the perfect example of the New Adult genre. There is a sizzling romance, a great plot and beyond awesome characters. The Wild Ones took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I was happy, I was sad, and I just couldn't get enough of it.
