Book Description

January 1, 2009 Zebra Historical Romance
Beautiful and aloof, actress Jessica Sullivan wants nothing to do with good-for-nothing men. But when the darkly handsome Lee Montgomery walks through the door, that simple rule is forgotten forever. Because the secret hidden in her heart is about to be revealed...Boston-born Lee Montgomery is anything but proper. He knows he's called a rogue, and he doesn't give a damn. Jessica can keep her distance if she wants to but that won't last. Not when he longs for her the way he does. Now how in the hell did a confirmed cad fall so deeply in love - and what can he do about it? Lee intends to mend his ways - and make Jessica love him back...

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Actress Jessica Sullivan’s plan for the future was simple: work hard and live quietly until she saves up enough money to repay the money her husband stole from her brother. All is well until Lee Montgomery appears. Jessica does her best to ignore the sexy gambler, especially since Lee seems to be one of her friend Michelle’s many “gentleman callers.” But when Lee falls in love with Jessica and Michelle plays matchmaker, Jessica finds herself forgetting her own rule of never again falling for a charming cad. Eagan’s second expertly crafted historical romance neatly combines a refreshingly different late-nineteenth-century western American setting; two fascinating, nuanced protagonists; and a suspenseful plot to create a wonderfully amusing love story. --John Charles

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Historical Romance June 29, 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I just had to take a moment to correct this book. This is a Western Romance.
I really enjoyed this book and the only history was related to the old west.
Great plot and Denise Eagan really draws the reader into the story.
I am looking for more from Denise Eagan.

4.0 out of 5 stars There can only be one... May 8, 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Although I am not generaly a reader of historical romance, Denny Eagan is really a regular Howard Zinn in her own right. Although the begining was sort of slow, almost off-putting, once I allowed myself to step into the world, I found myself entrapped in a unique and powerful approach to romance, a sort of sweaty embrace, if you will. This is a one-sitting book, so don't try to pick it up without the intentions of finishing the whole thing. It would be like trying to drink a serving-size quantity of soda. Not going to happen. The romance was explosive and strongly written, flowing deftly through cascades of emotions. This book simply left me wanting more. Bravo Denise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so wild about the Wild One April 2, 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I also could not wait for this book to come out, half way through the book I became utterly dissatisfied with the H/H because they spent too much of the book apart. I felt there was a lot of time wasted where they could have developed their relationship. There was a third party that was also involved with the hero. I guess when I read a romance I don't want the ex-mistress to get a lot of air time. To me she did not move the story along but dragged it down. There were some interesting characters that helped the H/H while they were in hiding. I would love for the author to write their story. I have not given up on this author, looking forward to her next book.
