Book Description

January 1, 2012
How do we learn best? The willed curriculum is not an unusual event but is something that we experience on a daily basis. It is not a deviation from many everyday routines but, in fact, it is a process that happens many, many times a day, day in and day out, to all of us. It is not something unusual or strange, but if we pay attention to how we live our lives we will quickly realize that we are making use of the willed curriculum already, and often with powerful and dramatic learning results. In this sense, the willed curriculum is not a call for something new but a call to be more mindful and make more use of something we are already using. We know that interest and internal motivation are critical for deep learning. Loving what we are learning, interest, and internal motivation are at the very core of the willed curriculum.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Willed Curriculum January 31, 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is outstanding. If more schools and universities followed Ricci's ideas, local and international societies would function at a near ideal level. Ricci is truly a great writer with ideas that need to be heard by students, parents, teachers, school administrators, University professors and administrators, and everyone interested in facilitating wise, fulfilling, peaceful living. This is a truly great book. Conrad P Pritscher, professor emeritus, philosophy of education, Bowling Green State University

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very helpful May 12, 2013

I was hoping for a more clear road map to take. This is a treatise on unschooling young children. The author fails to detail the quandry I face daily of trying to motivate my tween and to prevent her from facing a lifetime of low wage jobs due to her lack of an adequate education.
