Sophie Brent finds herself at the company Christmas party. She doesn't know why she bothered to attend because the one man that she wants above all others probably won't even notice she is there. Sophie placates herself with punch and prepares to make a run for it. Sophia suddenly finds herself face to face with the one man that makes her heart pound and her palms sweat; Matthew Westland, her boss and the object of all her fantasies. Sophie contents herself with exchanging pleasantries and heads to the parking garage. Just before she leaves the building, she hears the elevator doors open and someone calls her name. Turning around she finds that it is none other than Matthew Westland and Sophie throws caution to the wind and heads back towards him and the mistletoe hanging above their heads.

Sophie doesn't realize that this is the last time she will ever see Matthew as a free, independent woman. A new government is days away from taking over and her life is about to change. The next time she sees Matthew will be at a wife auction where she is the main attraction in a bidding war.

Matthew Westland has been unable to get Sophie Brent out of his mind since his company's Christmas party. He regrets having had to let Sophie go, not only in his personal life but in his professional as well. Sophie was one of Matt's best and brightest employees, but the new government will no longer allow women in the workforce. Matt counts his blessings and his money when a government sponsored wife auction is held in his company headquarters and Sophie is one of the main attractions. Against his father's wishes, Matt decides that he will have a wife of his choosing and it will be Sophie Brent.

Ms. Santiago is amazing with her compelling voice and sexy storylines! The three wives tales are simply not to be missed. If you like futuristic--or just plain great writing--I promise you will not be disappointed. There is a reason she is a rising star in the world of erotic romance. This book illustrates it perfectly.

Story: FAIRLY GOOD
Intimacy Level: GOOD/SPICY
Enjoyment: GOOD

My first book by this author and I did love it. It was kinda different for me. I didn't get use to Brutal's name because it didn't seem to fit him or his character, he was the sweetness guy and I fell in love with him myself. I love Hannah she was a good character to read and I can't complain about the sex in the book, I enjoyed the book. I just started the second book in the series. If you are into sci-fi, plus sci-fi erotica, then you will enjoy this book. I do admit it was different for me, but I think that's what made me enjoyed it more.

Grace Maitland received the kiss of her life when she was stranded in the elevator with sexy lawman Jonathan Brent. It was a stolen moment enjoyed by both, and remembered with questions about what if for three long years. When Jon found himself looking at the woman he had lusted after on the auction block, he was stunned. He had assumed she was married when he saw her testify against an accused rapist. She was raped by a monster at the age of sixteen, and was living with the aftermath as well as raising the daughter that was the product of that violent act. No one was bidding on her at the auction, and there was no choice after finding out she wasn't taken. He put in a bid, and although he had reservations about a wife's future with a man in law enforcement, he knew he didn't want to be without her.

Grace had never been more relieved as she was when Jon placed a bid on her. She was now his property and wife. She was surprised to find that she really didn't mind it because he was the first man that she had ever wanted to be with. A condition of his public claim was that they had to consummate their marriage immediately, and she was nervous about having a sexual relationship. Just as Grace began to have a small glimmer of what a good future they could have, they were given the grim news that her rapist was in all likelihood going to be freed. Even though Jon promised to protect her, she knew that he was going to finish the job, and kill her as he tried to do so many years ago.

If you are a believer in serendipity, you will enjoy this story. Grace is such a strong character in such an oppressive situation. The way women are treated and valued in this new realm is offensive, but I am glad Jon treasured her. He treated Grace like the love of his life she is, and was willing to go to any lengths to protect her. Great read!

The stories take place around the year 2076 after the Tiberius Group overtakes and rules the U.S. They create laws against women. Women are not allowed to hold jobs, own any finances or investments, go to school, walk outside without their husband or a blood male relative, etc. They are put up for auction to the highest bidder for men to buy them as wives. Those not sold as wives must live in institutions performing menial labor. A lot of the stories revolve around these issues and the stresses and unhappiness of women because of this. That makes the book somewhat depressing. I compare it to Jaid Black's books about the underground Viking society that occasionally kidnaps women from above and auctions them off as wives. Her stories are more fun and escapist. The women are horrified at first, but end up loving their husbands and living a happy life. The Wives Tales are not nearly as fun. There are too many victims. Although I did enjoy the third story more than the first two, I probably wouldn't recommend buying the book. The reason this qualifies as paranormal is that the three men in the three stories are genetically enhanced in slightly different ways. The genetic enhancements are a minor part of the stories. Setting: around 2076 earth and a moon of Mars. Genre: paranormal romance. The three stories follow.

2 stars to The Miner's Wife. Hannah is sent to a moon of Mars mining colony and is sold to Brutal, a miner for a temporary one year marriage. The author used one of my pet peeves: creating conflict through vague communication and inaccurate assumptions. They quickly fall in love with each other, but they think the other does not want him/her. He even goes so far as to free her to return to earth without him.
