5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tale.. November 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's so nice to read a book where no one dies. This is a tale of adventures, soul searching, and growing up.

Brock, a lazy youth, and, doggone it I can't remember spelling of wizard name, set out on a quest to fix a magical amulet. This wizard has his own demons to fight, and this story is all about each of them growing up and becoming the person's they are.

Well written, fast paced, and very feel good story. A nice distraction from all the world saving fantasy books out there. A quaint tale of magic, learning, friendship, and love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coming of Age Tale November 19, 2013
By Sparta
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Here is a classic tale of a young man growing up. The setting is well developed and fun to read. The author builds a clean tale of good vs evil and a typical quest for the party. The novel is gentle rather than combative or full of death- yes fairy tale fits. I enjoyed the simple storyline and straight forward dialogue.

This is the type of book I would want on the bookshelves of a library in the pre-teen section. Of course, adults that like light fantasy reading should enjoy it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars good not great February 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot is fine, but the characters lack real dimension. The story lacks a certain texture that books with a keener use of descriptors features. I might pick up the next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be careful what you eat! The Wizard's Apprentice November 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A light romp through fae land, Brock pilfering food at the banquet was especially good. Zebulon was a real enigma throughout most of the book. A good basic quest fantasy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book June 1, 2014

The latest Merlin movie could have been based on this book. Add to that the spice of your imagination then you will know what to expect of the wizards apprentice? There are a few things that weren't in the movie that should have been included but perhaps there will b a second movie to expand on the theme.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready for a quest and adventure!? August 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hold a special place in my heart for apprentice books, and this was just an awesome adventure! I don't want to give any spoilers, but I loved the style of writing, the characters were enchanting and the villains were totally villainous! Who doesn't want the good guy and the underdog to win? Yes, I want to know what happens next!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, light read July 18, 2014

While clearly for young adults (which I am so not), the story had real depth and interesting characters. I look forward to Brock's further adventures.

Can't wait to read the next book in the series! Great author with a lot of promise. Good light magic with heavy emotion.

The book ended way to soon for me. I think it stands very well on it's own but, I can't wait for the remainder of this series to come out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book is okay
Interesting book. My grandsons enjoyed it as it is a coming of age story as well as an adventure story. There is some violence (beating) but it is handled well. No gore. Read more

This story was, indeed, light and pleasant, though seriously marred by errors. It would have been greatly improved by even an amateur editor. Read more
