Amazon.com Review

Children under the age of 10 will find the stories and characters of the Bible more vivid and memorable when they hear them in the recorded voices and sounds of The Word and Song Bible. When God creates the heavens and earth in Genesis, children can hear the thunderclap, the roar of the oceans, and the twitters and cries of the newly created animals. Meanwhile, children will read along in their colorfully illustrated books. God's voice, performed by Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie, is a traditional interpretation, sounding more like a booming Zeus than a gentle spirit. Some may recognize the voice of Jerry Falwell as the Apostle Matthew. Christian pop music artist Twila Paris poses as the enchanting voice of Eve. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This is THE BEST out there if you are looking for a children's Bible. The hardcover book comes with 5 CD's. The CD'S are awsome with lots of realistic sounds like thunder and lightening. After each story follows a song related to the story with sheet music. On the CD's the songs are syng by a children's choir are are beautifyl! I'm a homeschooling and my girls LOVE listening to the stories and songs on the CD's and following along in the book. We do 1 every day. 116 stories amd 75 scripture songs. illustrations are nice too. Highly reccomend!!!

This Bible/CD set is a tremendous resource for parents and kids. It is so well made and scripturally sound. There is at least one story from every book of the Bible. Every story begins with a Bible verse and follows with an engaging narrative that keeps your child's interest. Most stories are followed by a great song that reinforces the lesson. I have two children, ages 6 and 4, and they are on their fourth time through since Christmas. They follow along with the CDs, usually in the car. My six-year-old is asking me questions like "Mommy, how can I be a peacemaker?" Her reading skills have also dramatically improved as she reads along with the CDs. My four-year-old is going around singing, "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray." I am seeing real fruit in their lives. It is a great way to fill your children's thoughts with things that matter for eternity.

My daughter is four and has had this book since she was about 10 months to a year-old. I have played it for her when she goes down for a nap and at bedtime over the years and now play them for she and my son in the van on our travels around town.
Even though she was too young to fully comprehend all that is on there, she REMEMBERS what she has heard and has repeated things back to me and asked questions.
I am now teaching her memory verses and she knows eight so far, one of them being John 3:16, which is pretty long for a little girl. My son is learning them as well, and knows one so far (he's two).
I highly recommend this book and the tapes/cd's that go along with it. In fact, we originally recevied this as a gift with the cassettes. We wore the cassettes out and I was fortunate to be able to get just the cd's online without having to buy a second book.
Adults could become a little annoyed at the voices used for the animation, but as the Lutheran mother above wrote, her daughter loves it. Kids are attentive to dramatic voices and would likely just ignore someone reading in a manner that would please the Lutheran mother's ears :o
It's a wonderful book for Christian parents who want to teach their children about the Bible. Everything in there is scripture, so no matter what denomination, if you believe the Bible is the infallable Word of God, this book is for you.

My son & I have this Bible & CD set and we listen to it as we play. He is one year old & likes to hear the stories and he loves the music.
Its a lot of fun & i think people of any age can enjoy it. The familiar stories of the bible are brought to life through words, sounds, & song.

This is a wonderful set of stories & songs. In fact, I'm tempted to give it the highest possible praise: its quality is comparable to "Baby Mozart." My daughter asks to hear the songs over & over. When the kids are restless in the car we say, "a few more stories & we'll be there!"

This is the best children's Bible we've ever used. We have the book and cassette tapes and our six children use them daily on average of about an hour per day! This Children's Bible does not skip over the OT Prophets like many do. It has Scripture references and also has songs (music included) to break up the storytelling. We have many children's Bibles in our home library and this is the one that was worth every penny spent! I am also a teacher and I must say from an educational standpoint, this book (and tapes) are colorful, exciting, engaging, and educational. My children know more about the Bible from this set than many adults do!!

This is a great book and CD combo. The book is beautifully put together, with stories from the Bible and Bible-songs, starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation. The book contains sheet music, so you could even play the songs on the piano or another musical instrument if you wanted to. Put in the CD and let your child read along in the book or follow along in the book when learning the songs. A great idea and a great gift!
