Book Description

John Wesley (28 June 1703 – 2 March 1791) was an Anglican cleric and Christian theologian. Wesley is largely credited, along with his brother Charles Wesley, with founding the English Methodist movement which began when he took to open-air preaching in a similar manner to George Whitefield. In contrast to George Whitefield's Calvinism, Wesley embraced Arminianism. Methodism in both forms was a highly successful evangelical movement in the United Kingdom, which encouraged people to experience Jesus Christ personally.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do It Right or Not At All for the Kindle Reader April 20, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I believe that amazon believes in quality work. If you are going to format a book for kindle readers then it should be done right or not at all. To format the Works of John Wesley and not provide a means to navigate through it is deplorable. I rather pay a few more dollars and have it done right than to not be able to enjoy what I am reading because I can not get to the content I wish to read without spending wasted moments trying to find it. The Works of John Wesley as they are formated for your Kindle Reader is terrible and I would not recommend anyone to purchase it as it is. I am glad I only wasted 99 cents or I would of been really upset.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a happy camper June 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There are volumes missing, which I've had confirmed by I was hoping to get the entire collection, as I read them, but that is not the case. I have sent a query as to if the missing pieces will be available and have yet to recieve a reply.

Other reviewers have also commented on how this does not have an easily searchable format. Not good for those that want to learn more about the Wesleyan Tradition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware! May 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is simply a scan of Wesley's work. It is not formatted for the Kindle. There are no hyperlinks anywhere within the work, so it can only be navigated by key word search.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complete, Yes. Useful, not really. March 2, 2009
This product is indeed what it advertises. The works (journals, letters, sermons and comments) of John Wesley on CD. The problem is that it is all one long text file. It is trapped inside the Folio Infobase software that was out of date 10 years ago. You can export the entire text to either WordPerfect or RTF (no PDF or MS Word option) but even then all 7 (or 14) volumes are contained in one giant file. You can search for particular words, but I haven't found any topical search (ie - I want a sermon on sanctification). And the worst for any $50 product, there are misspellings in the text!! I wish I had bought the 7 book hardcover edition so at least it would look pretty on my shelf. This just isn't going to be as useful as I had hoped.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Reliable Wesley Resource April 14, 2009
By RevBev
Format:CD-ROM|Verified Purchase
The CD-ROM of the Works of John Wesley is an excellent source for anyone who is doing Wesleyan research or someone who is just interested in John Wesley's writings. It is a complete resource and the Scriptural links and search parameters are very reliable for intense study. I've used it for 10 years and lost my first copy, so I had to purchase a second copy so I wouldn't be without it!
