I liked this little booklet. It was an easy read, straightforward, and informative regarding its topic. It explains a small business' need to create an Internet Presence. And it goes through the basic ways to create such a presence. Obviously you will need a Web site. A blog would be nice to have, too. And then getting involved in the LinkedIn site was also suggested and explained pretty well, too. A few other social media sites were mentioned like Facebook, but not overdone. I appreciated this since I am not a Facebook fan.

The author is a fan of Wordpress.com, or at least I think he is. I know I am, and I agreed with all he said about it. You can create your Web site using Wordpress.com. You can create your blog or blogs using Wordpress.com. Or you can create all your sites (Web site & blogs) using Wordpress.com.

The author is a consultant to companies needing help with their Internet Presence. So the book is clearly a marketing piece to help promote his practice. Although I thought the booklet was well organized and well written, I thought it was kind of short to be called a book. I've been doing some reading lately on selling books through Amazon as ebooks and based on what I have read the Kindle edition of this book probably should have been no more than $3.99 and probably should have been priced at $2.99. This brings up an interesting point regarding this book - the use of Amazon as a way to sell content ( information & marketing materials) is yet another consideration when creating an Internet Presence mix. The author failed to discuss this, and I think it probably should have been discussed. Do you price such products at a higher price to make much money? Or do you price them so they will sell and be read at a lower price? 4 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Consise and easy to follow August 9, 2013
Format:Paperback
Truthfully, I dread reading anything remotely technical. As a business owner, I don't have a great deal of spare time. I was delighted to find Mr. Goodman's book in plain language and easy to follow. I was able to read it in an evening. I am a beginner at internet marketing, and while I knew some of this material, there was definitely new information for me that I think will really make a difference in my business. Looking forward to beefing up my use of LinkedIn after reading this, and ready for the next installments of this book.

Whether you are a novice or an expert at the crazy ever changing world of the Internet, you are bound to learn a ton from this book! Johnathan's book is a one-stop bundle of invaluable information. I have been using the Internet since it's infancy and I still learned bunches from this book. It is a must read for someone who wants to own their own e-commerce website, or even if you are just looking to improve traffic to your site. You are guaranteed to learn more then a few good tricks on how to position your product or service online, improve traffic, and stay on top of the ever growing network of social media, etc. I highly recommend this book to all, no matter what your level of expertise is. 5 stars here...and I look forward to reading all his series to come!

This was an interesting read for me. I'm not an entrepreneur nor do I plan to start my own business....but I am interested in how the technological age affects us all. This book gives insight as to how the internet affects marketing, social influence, and the like. I feel more educated about how the web works - something I knew little about. Thank you, Mr. Goodman!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brief but extremely informative! July 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Goodman's book discusses the hows and whys of establishing an online presence for one's business in a clear, informative manner. As I mentioned in the title, the book is short, but it packs a lot of information within, written simply yet without condescending to the reader. There are some grammatical quibbles, but they do not distract the reader (also, I'm especially picky on that matter; most readers probably couldn't care less).

I am a metadata professional, and so read it from that standpoint. Goodman presents a very easily-understood take on information architecture (which is not an easy thing to do!), including site design and page structure. I know that this is an introduction; I'd like it if, in his next book (should there be a follow-up to this one), he discussed simple tools for SEO, such as the use of microdata like schema.org.

Anyone looking to establish a web presence for their business could use this as a handbook with ease; if you're looking to do so, I encourage you to read this book.

This book is amazing! It's written in such an easy style - making the reader feel like they're reading simple instructions! It provides fodder for expansion, based on need and experience, allowing the reader to apply their own situation and vision to all the myriad of avenues available to them.

It's almost as if the author is having a private conversation with you and providing direction, rather than just reading a book on marketing strategies! Kudos Mr. Goodman on a job well done!

This book was easy for me to follow and has left me eager to see the next two installments. I had been putting off the task of creating a new web site (a friend did it for me the last time) but after reading this informative tutorial, I feel encouraged to proceed confidently. Thank you for sharing The World of Internet Marketing: The Basics. I recommend it to anyone who needs to take educational steps in order to dive in more confidently!
