Editorial Reviews

The World in Your Eyes and A Gilded Eternity are the final two releases in a series of long-overdue and definitive reissues by British primal psych band Loop.
Originally a 1987 singles collection, The World in Your Eyes has now been re-released as a remastered triple-CD set. All the band's 12-inches and compilation appearances are in chronological order, with some tracks from the very first Loop demo, the 16 Dreams single, Nick Drake and Neil Young songs, the Prisma Uber Europa live promo 12-inch, and even the Godflesh cover from their split on Clawfist. In all, 27 tracks from six 12-inch releases and four compilations, packaged as three CDs in wallets in a slipcase.

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic shoegazing experience December 29, 2003
By bleak
Format:Audio CD
This is one helluva psychedelic trip. All Loop records are great but this is my favorite. Head On, Burning World, Deep Hit; I get chills just from the song titles. Loop deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Suicide (they do an excellant cover of Rocket USA here), The Velvet Underground (ie. Waiting for My Man), The Jesus and Mary Chain and Spacemen 3. Would somebody (Mute perhaps?) re-release these (Loop) records please! They deserve to be in print. And Loop deserve a place in the underground hall of fame.

4.0 out of 5 stars An under-rated band's singles collection August 21, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This release not only compiles the original World In Your Eyes collection (Which compiled the 16 Dreams and Spinning EPs) and the Dual/Eternal compilations (Which compiled the Black Sun and Collision EPs), but it also compiles the Arc-Lite Single, the promo-only Prisma Uber Europa live EP, and some previously uncompiled material.

The first disc is probably the most unique sounding of Loop's releases in that it sounds more akin to what Spacemen 3 and The Jesus and Mary Chain were doing, but with a more krautrock-like streak to it. The next two discs are more indicative of Loop's sound and include the classics Collision, Crawling Heart, Arc-Lite and a great cover of Can's Mother Sky. The sound quality is much improved from the previous compilations. My only complaint is that Robert couldn't properly remaster the Sniffin Rock version of Pulse, so that track is still left uncompiled.
