Editorial Reviews

ALASTAIR VANCE, worship leader and songwriter @ Story Church
"What Gangai presents here is a comprehensive guide to both the spiritual and practical aspects of leading worship, gleaned from many years of experience.  It is a true gem and it will prove a great resource for worship teams - particularly those belonging to church plants that are starting from the ground up."
ERIC DYE, human rights advocate and editor of CHURCH MAG
"The Worship Kenbook crosses denominational lines and is a helpful and insightful read for worship leaders, choir members, drummers--everyone participating in leading corporate worship.
In fact, some worship leaders might want to consider using this as required reading (all or parts) for their worship team!
For those that don't know who Gangai Victor is, other than a guest writer for ChurchMag, he is a worshiper from Chennai, India, an active blogger and worship ministry trainer."
BRAD RHINE, worship leader and editor of WORSHIP LINKS
"Overall, the thing I most enjoyed about about Gangai's book is that it's practical. All in all, you can't go wrong with this book. If you're a worship leader - regardless of your experience or ability level - there's some good stuff here for you."
PETER SILAS, blogger and author
"I would challenge any one of you reading this review to read this book and tell me you were not able to connect in some way!
The reader is given clear examples along with both Scripture and practicality to hopefully unlock their heart during their next worship session with God; whether it be prayer, service or doing a deed that is good in His eyes, the potential to grow is now given to the reader... worship ministers, you now have clear principles to help guide you."

4.0 out of 5 stars A good starting point September 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book in exchange for my unbiased review of its contents.

First of all I have been in pretty much every position on a worship team over the last 20 years. While I am no expert I will say that there is something for each member of the team in this book from the worship leader to the sound tech to the overseeing church leader to the newest member of the choir. If you are looking for some tips on how and where to start in supporting the training you are receiving to become a worship leader this is a good starting point.

Two things detracted from the message for me personally: typos and context. There were only two typos that I saw so I can live with that. The context threw me off a bit due to the books audience being addressed as being from a wide faith base range, you could be a member of a Catholic church directing the choir or a lead guitarist for a youth band in a non-denominational congregation and this book could apply to you however the author quotes from Maccabees which applies to a narrower audience; this led me to trying to figure out the author's religious background using the rest of the book.

In the end, I would recommend this book as a supplement to a person's training and discipleship in the worship arts and in particular in learning to lead worship in a church. I personally would like a physical copy as the book caused me to think enough I would want to write in the margins, highlight sections, and correct the typos.

4.0 out of 5 stars More encouraging than educating September 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
To be fair I am not a Worship Leader, but I am a Praise Team member. This book is full of encouragement and would be uplifting for a Worship Leader. It gave me a new found appreciation for what they do. The prayer in the beginning of the book is inspiring too.

It will not turn you into a Worship Leader. It provides warnings of things to avoid, suggestions to make a worship service more focused on Christ, and motivation that can best come from someone who has already had the same experiences.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
