Review

Wherever you are on your writer's journey, you'll find useful tools in this new book by creative coach, Beth Barany. Beth has a knack for knowing how to kickstart both clients and colleagues into action! --Patricia Simpson (San Francisco, CA)

Beth Barany's "The Writer's Adventure Guide" focuses on the best approach to tackle the emotions and logistics involved with the adventure of writing a book. --Dafkah "the Skyscraper With Vertigo" (Oakland, CA USA)

I was a little nervous to take Beth's course. I didn't think I really had a concrete book idea. But during the course, I got a really great idea for a book. Suddenly it seemed clear, inspiring and easy to write. --Cheryl Liquori

This course helped greatly in creating a framework and a set of tools to move forward with the process of writing -- for any genre. --Bill Chamberlain

A Treasure Trove! The Book Writer's Adventure workshop is fast-paced, interesting and an adventure. It's a writer's Disneyland! --Sally Faubion

From the Author

I wrote this book to empower authors and to help you actually write and complete your book. Readers have told me it's liking having a writing coach at your side. (Thanks Asha Stokes, Gia Wellness Consultant, for that comment!)

I also wrote this book because I struggled with writing fiction for many years. I finally discovered the hero's journey and married that with my love of fairy tales and folktales, and voila, The Writer's Adventure Guide was born.

I've since studied Creativity Coach and a Master NLP Practitioner, which has helped me help authors better, and helped me better.

More About the Author

Based in Oakland, California, Beth Barany writes magical tales of romance and adventure to transport readers to new worlds where anything is possible.

She's the award-winning author HENRIETTA THE DRAGON SLAYER, a young adult fantasy novel (Book 1 of the Five Kingdom series.)

Now out! HENRIETTA AND THE DRAGON STONE, (Book 2 of the Five Kingdom series.)

Beth is also the author of three sweet, paranormal romance novellas in the Magical Tales of Romance & Adventure series -- so far! Two more are due out in 2014.

In her off hours, Beth enjoys capoeira -- a Brazilian martial art/dance --, traveling, and watching movies with her husband, bestselling author Ezra Barany, and playing with their two cats, Kitty and Leo.

I purchased this book based on other reviews both here and on other sites; however, the reviews do not accurately reflect the content of the book. Neither does the title. This book is a more a self-actualization/self-help book then a writing book. The exercises focus on finding your goals, yourself and your style with only five steps actually related to book writing and those are 'pre-writing' exercises. I am greatly disappointed in the book and glad I only spent $3.99 for a Kindle copy rather than purchasing the paperback edition.

This book is a step-by-step guide to getting your novel written. Whether you're a beginning writer or have a few novels finished, it's chocked full of exercises to stimulate creativity and to help organize your thoughts and pages. Using the mythic story structure as her model, Beth Barany has crafted 12 concise steps to get you through the preparation, writing, and completion phases of your novel. I enjoyed this author's step-by-step approach so much I immediately bought a second book by Ms. Barany.

Ms. Barany does a fantastic job on instructing writers. She explains everything very clearly, and she has broken down the entire process into twelve week-long increments. There are writing exercises for you to complete, and she encourages you to email her about your progress.
By reading and re-reading this extremely helpful book over and over again, I feel that my writing has greatly improved, making writing my novel much easier and quicker. If you are an aspiring novelist, then this book is most definitely for you.
