Amazon.com Review

In a worthy companion to volume one, Jane Goldman delivers even more of the real-world inspirations for the most popular episodes of The X-Files. Goldman delves into reports of lake monsters, vampires, and of course, alien abduction and conspiracy theories. The one limitation of The X-Files Book of the Unexplained series is the broad scope, which limits Goldman's exploration to appetizing glimpses of the stranger side of life. However, she offers ample bibliographic references for readers who want to sink their teeth into the main course. --Brian Patterson --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I have both volume one and now volume two- thanks to used book sellers. This book contains "explainations" for some of the best in my opinion episodes. "HUMBUG", "FIREWALKER", "3" - that was the episode that had one of david duchovny's at the time's girlfriend playing a vampire, "War of the coprophages"- heh heh Dr. Bambi, "hell money", "clyde bruckman's Final repose"- the psychic epiisode-one of my all time favorites. Msybe the book was great because it had great episodes in it... or maybe it was great because it seemed to be written better than the first book. The chapters are clearly laid out into catagories: Life outside the mortal form, human enigmas, weird world, ancient beliefs, 20th century threats and paranoias, a cosmic conundrum, investigating the unexplained. It's a well written book- as i've said before. the research goldman did for this book is excellent. it is similar to the first book with quotes from the various episodes... but in my opinion is more interesting than the first one. Maybe it's because goldman had choosen some great episodes to write about. Definately get this book for your x-files collection. I'm glad that i did.

There are only two real reasons to buy this book:

1) If you're a fan of the television series, you'll enjoy the
numerous pictures (some of which are quite good actually)from
the show and the comments upon specific episodes.

2) You are a novice to anything paranormal and thus in need
of a book that covers the basics in a simplified matter.

That said, the buyer should understand that there are many
better books on the supernatural/paranormal (such as
Unexplained!); certainly you are paying for the book's tie-in
with the series rather than any scholarly criticism.

Among the better books tied to the popular TV series, Goldman's book is a well-crafted, well-prepared look at the paranormal/UFO "foundation" of the series. Not an episode guide or behind-the-scenes book, it focuses instead on thoughtful analysis of such themes as poltergeists, cannibalism, and alien abduction as they relate to X-Files stories. The author shows an intimate familiarity with the content of each episode, and is able to seamlessly link elements of the actual episodes to events in "real" paranormal literature. Very glossy, pretty book

Most people think that everything in the X-files is completely fictional, this simply isn't true. There are real life roots for the stories weaved by X-files writers, and this book chronicles all kinds of useful, entertaining, and interesting examples of these facts. Are aliens manipulating our government? is mind control possible? what lies at the bottom of loch ness? Only this book will give you the facts you need to make a conclusion. I use it as a great rescource material.

There are many reasons to love that book:

First, it had a good appearance and nice quality paper.

Second, the pictures in it, the lines from The X-files make a nice reference and makes some stuff easier to understand.

Third, it explains a lot of paranormal phenomenon very clearly, with the explanations of scientists, researchers, witnesses, etc.

And finaly, all the reasons above explain why I loved it.

I have only read volume two, but I have to say it was one of the best books EVER! I am 13 years old and I read this book for school. When I did my presentation on it, i thought everybody would be bored, but at the end, my friends were begging me to read more. It had so much fascinating information in it. I highly reccomend that everyone on earth should read this book!

This is the most amazing Sci-Fi book I ever read, saw in TV and heard strange news about Aliens. Without this book on sale, no one will know that Aliens or not do exist. The question is "Do Aliens and the Life forms of Mars exist? or it is just a dream?". Be a book lover on any types of books or levels. Buy now while supply last
