From the Inside Flap

Once upon a time, in a land without a god,
there lived a handsome Prince.
That handsome Prince married a beautiful Princess,
and together they had a son.
The Prince's father died and he became King,
Princess became Queen,
their son a Prince.
Then the handsome King sent a sorcerer to fry,
while his Queen screamed and shrieked.
Eight years later, the Prince would die.

Prince Asyrias was a thoroughly enjoyable read, and it was filled with a tremendous number of engaging and intertwining plotlines. I found myself deeply invested in the lives' of the characters. Some of them generating an interesting dichotomy of loathing admiration, or at times I would find myself saddened to have hated them. In the end I believe the greatest personal testament to the book was my inability to put it down late at night, when I should have been getting much needed sleep. I found myself tired the next day, excited to grab a moment to read, and almost regretful when I discovered there was not another page to turn. However, I suppose this state allows me to look forward to the next book in the series.

The storyline in this book is captivating, intriguing and leaves you wondering what will happen next. I belong to a book club and this book was chosen as our pick for the month of June. Initially I was apprehensive about reading this book as it was not one I would normally pick up - boy, was I wrong! I was hooked by the third chapter. The author does a great job immersing the reader in the world she has created. She has also created characters are who are likeable, despicable, and each and every one are unique and interesting. I would totally recommend this book to any avid reader - you will not be disappointed! A great read all around.
