Product Description

It was the start of another ordinary day at the office for Max, he was emailing a friend when one of his other early morning co-workers called for his help, someone was having a heart attack. Rushing to the aid of his fallen co-worker Max knew one thing, it wasn't a heart attack. Heart attack victims didn't bleed and didn't start chewing on anyone they could catch either. Once the victims died they came back to life with only one goal; to consume the living. Now Max was stuck in a rapidly deteriorating situation thirty miles from home, where his wife and two kids were sleeping away the warm mid summer morning. He had to get back to his family and get them to a safe place, if he could find one. Forming a group made up of his coworkers Steve and Tom and a police officer called 'Stewart' they make their way into the city to save the ones they love. The newly returned, however, were not all mindless shamblers and some of them had a plan...

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and unbelievably lame dialogue make this book too painful to endure. What is a "Lugar"? Not a German pistol, that's for sure. The story at least starts out well, but I had to quit about 15% of the way through the book, when the urge to have one of the undead chew my eyeballs out became too strong to ignore...

Did anyone proofread this story? Multiple typos on a page often times. As far as the story goes, I prefer traditional non speaking zombies. Nevermind some of the things the authors have them doing. Laundry? Good God.

3.0 out of 5 stars Independent Author Needs Editor, June 3, 2009

This is the story of a regular work day at the start of a zombie apocalypse. After getting a sample, I was hooked on the story. The zombies were really different. It still has the shambling zombies, but the story also contains "smart" zombies. Each time a zombie feeds it regenerates and gets stronger and smarter. Also some zombies had some pings of humanity. I do not usually like this in my stories. I usually really like the old fashion romero type zombies, but the author did a good job with it so it did work for me. Not bad for an independent book. This book really is in some bad need of editing! I would have given this story a much better rating if not for the mispellings and errors. It is so distracting.

More About the Author

Mark Clodi (born March 30th, 1969) is the author of many zombie apocalypse novels and short stories. At an early age Mark was hooked on fantasy and the pulp fiction of the 'Golden Age of Science Fiction'. While moving around the mid-west with his parents he continued to feed his frenzied reading by buying fiction at yard sales and utilizing the local libraries. The thought of actually becoming a writer struck him at an early age, but he never followed through on his dream until he was much older and 'settled in' to a career as a computer programmer. His writing started one day while trading emails back and forth with Mike Keleman, the co-author of his first book. They started assigning chapter numbers to the emails and the rest, as they say, is history.

He lives in a small town in Iowa in the United States with his wife, two daughters, two dogs and two cats. On any given Saturday night no matter what the temperature, rain or shine, you can find him on the rough 'man-deck' behind his house grilling ribs, reading and listening to the radio by the light of a kerosene lantern.
