Racing fan or not you will be entertained by the narrative of the book. Surface touches on every aspect of the track. The breeders, trainers, grooms, starters, stewards, chemists, bettors and of course the stars.....the horses themselves. The ups and downs of racing are presented honestly and with humor. Highly recommended!

The author treats everyone interviewed in this book as some kind of hick. Just about every other word is spelled as a contraction and some of the information his equal to a kindergarten level of interest. In my opinion, don't waste your time.
