This book is a short history of world -theater. It also includes much technical information on the way the play was played. It is richly illustrated, and provides a good introduction for those wishing to learn the basic outlines of theatrical development.

Theater, by Jacques Burdick was a text book during my studies in theater at Adelphi University. It was quite useful then and I have used it to this day as a resource during lectures and seminars I have given. I feel it is an invaluable resource.
