This review is from: Theatre of the Fraternity: Staging the Ritual Space of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 1896-1929 (Paperback)
I was expecting another Masonic philosophical treatise as it applied to the tools, rituals and staging of the degrees and plays of the Scottish Rite of North America. Instead I found a beautifully written, researched and organized collection of essays about the social, political, and cultural landscape of a nation that fell in love with the stage, fraternalism and the resulting affect on how Masonic philosophy came to evolve to its' present condition.
The pedigree of the authors and contributors is second to none. The production quality is outstanding, and the price of the work is perfect for the value received. I highly recommend this work to all Americans, more especially - to Hiram. |
