This is an ¨underground¨ DVD from reputed metal label Plastic Head. A relatively unknown gothic-metal italian band that blew my brains away since I'd never heard of them and whose name and front cover captured my attention. The dvd is nothing spectacular considering it is a skimpy 45' gig shot at a small, dark and smoke-filled club with a low ceiling that is evidently some euro basement. It is part of an euro tour that took place in 2006. Neither picture nor filming are anything to write home about. So why the 5 star rating ? Simple; the very three aspects I care the most about on a live dvd are excellently covered here : sound, performance and atmosphere.

While only stereo 2.0, the sound is agressive and detailed at the same time. The rythm section could level an entire block if played loud enough, with a special mention for the bassist; few times have I witnessed a more rotound and precise playing style, and the basslines are something to die for.

Guitar, on the other hand, is only really loud in the mix during the flanged parts, but the overall result is very pleasant, leaving the keyboards very audible.

Vocals are great, but most of them comes from a DAT player which is evident during the multi-layered part and in ocassional lip-sinc mistakes. There are also some overdubs here and there but nothing to sweat about.

Extras include 2 excellent videoclips and a long interview with singer Sonya Scarlet, whose English is somewhat poor so it was subtitled, LOL !! During the interview, Sonya comments some archival footage, one of them being a gig during which she cut her arm with a razor blade and let the front-row audience suck her blood !!!

I'm glad I bought this out of a whim and found it to be an excellent addition to my DVD collection. Take the plunge !!

This DVD features a concert of the bands popular songs along with a photogallery and an exclusive interview along with two music videos. And if you love this band this is definitely a must have! Its eighty minutes worth of cool features!
