Without a doubt, the coolest computer game ever!,

Wow, I can't believe I actually found good old Hollywood High on amazon! Now I can finally write the review I've had in my head for eight years...
Ever wanted to make your own little cartoon movies? Don't have much know-how? Well, Hollywood High is definitely the game for you! In this game, the basic premise is that you can write and direct your own little cartoons, and it's so easy, a child could do it! You pick from 12 characters (my favorite is Gus, the Lars Fredericksen look-alike), lots of backdrops (the couch, the homecoming dance, the music store, et cetera), and go from there. You can do a serious movie, or you can just make 'em do tricks ("Watch me pull a burger out of my..."). Either way, even after eight years and thousands of stories, it never gets old, and I have a feeling it never will. If you can get your hands on a copy (Theatrix went bust a few years ago so I think this game is out of print), I highly recommend doing so. It may not work on newer computers (it wouldn't install properly on my Sony Vaio, which I got about a year ago, but it works on the one downstairs which is about a few years old), but if you have an older computer... this game is even worth a HUNDRED dollars! It's that damn good! It's addicting, fun, and without a doubt, the best computer game ever (sorry Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2). Period.

Hollywood High is a program that can be used to teach English language skills (and dialogue in particular) to children of all ages. As a teacher, I use the program's novelty to help teach creative writing while providing the students with some useful computer experience. The program's interface is quite intuitive and there is a very short curve to learning (and utilizing) all the program's features.

This made me want to be a film maker,

When i was 8 years old i bought this game for my macintosh performa. I wrote hundreds of scripts on it using the interactive cartoons that could read my work back to me. I would then print the scripts out and use my friends to act them out for me, but it was so much easier to have something to show me in advance if i was making mistakes. I would reccomend this for anyone who might want to be a film maker, but doens't want to spend a bunch of money on other programs to find out.

I know there is prolly lots of prgrams out there. Close to this but man this was way old with ablity to say any word in lots of voices and just a great program to make cartoons and jokes on friends or whatever is your cartoon of your dreams. I could do better thinks on this then on all those brand new 2000 dollar macromedia programs. Mad respect!

I wanna PLAY!!!,

I just dug up my old copy of "Hollywood High" which I had thought was lost forever. I was pumped; this was one of the most fun games I've ever played.
Unfortunately, it won't run on a 64-bit system. Now, there's a way to set a program to run in "XP MODE" with Win 7, but you have to be able to actually change the properties on the program itself - and unfortunately, this sweet little program demands you launch from CD. No way to get to it to set it to XP mode. I'm just hoping somebody out there might know how I could do this from a DOS prompt. Because I REALLY want to play this game again! Maybe we could all get together and contribute to having someone fix it so it can run in 64 bit! What do my fellow fans think?

I purchased this item through the school I work at to use with my children with Autism. It worked so well when I used it a few years ago. The seller did not mention what operating system this software uses and therefore was not compatible with our system. Now I am stuck with this useless software and half of my yearly budget gone.
