5.0 out of 5 stars Egyptian Secrets Revealed, June 13, 2000
By
This review is from: Thebes (Paperback)
Giorgio A. Livraga's book Thebes is well worth a careful reading. It combines the known historical data on Egypt with a thorough explanation of the mythological and mystical aspects of Egypt. The writer's love of Egypt and his enormous depth of wisdom into the magical dimension of the Egyptian Temple is quite riveting. I particular liked the chapters on mummification and the description of The Weighing of the Heart. There are also a lot of high quality images and diagrams in the book. I strongly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like the Egyptian Culture..., October 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Thebes (Paperback)
If you would like to learn more about the magic that surrounded this great culture, then Thebes was written just for you.

Among the different books that I have read about Egypt; Thebes is one of the best. It not only informs about different aspects of the culture, it goes deeper and explains the spirit that laid under this magnificient culture. It is written by a person with a sensitive heart that visited Egypt not only as a tourist, but that captured the essence of the place, it's religion and sacred places.

Thebes can give you an insight into the life of the inhabitants of this ancient city. The book presents not only the external aspects of this culture, but most important, the internal part, the heart of the Egyptian Civilization.

5.0 out of 5 stars A throughly enjoyable read!, October 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Thebes (Paperback)
The author presents Egypt in a refreshing manner complete with insights into why they constructed their monuments and their views on life and the universe. Debunking some common misconceptions, "Thebes" shines new light on familiar objects such as the pyramids at Gizeh and the sarcophagi of the Pharoahs. This book does an excellant job of explaining why Egypt's history, as it is conventionally believed, lasted over 3000 years. Also, with reference to several new books by Graham Hancock and other authors writing on Egypt, Livraga was well ahead of them all, hinting about the start of history, that these recent authors are only now beginning to unravel.
