WOW! Imagine having 100,000 Sudoku books in your pocket! With that many puzzles, you don't have to scrounge the stores for puzzle books. I loved mine. It went everywhere since it's so portable, and it even comes with an extra stylus.THe problems... It would be much better with a backlight. You need to sit near light, and the light adjuster doesn't really help a lot. I gave it a four star for durability. I ran over it in my wheelchair, and cracked the screen, so I'm needing to replace mine. If you have a heavy wheelchair, don't run it over! I liked the beginning level when I was learning the puzzle. It flashes when you put in an incorrect answer. The basic level was indeed basic, and the higher levels were challenging. So, even though you have to find a decent light source to play this game, it really is great for the money. I've seen electronic sudoku for $35, and it only had 10,000 games. So, this is a really good, value priced unit. And you DO get an extra stylus!

This works OK, but every puzzle I tried didn't have enough information to actually solve without guessing. If you aren't a serious Sudoku fan it would be a good choice because it is fun to use, but if you prefer to solve a puzzle through logic don't bother with this device.

I loved this game. I hate having to carry around sudoku workbooks so I got this portable edition. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a backlight. Everything else is great! I would recommand.

Hi, I feel in love with this type of puzzle. I wanted to get an electronic version of it, I went with this one. The game play is very easy with this one. Very simple navagation, just select your number and touch the screen were you want to number to go. There is one draw back and to me it is a big one. The numbers are to small and to hard to see unless you have very bright lighting in the room.

I have window shopped for a electronic version of Sudoku and by far this is the best one I've seen. I have seen one about the same size and cost less. I prefer this one better. Sure, I need a light source for the device but I carry it with me everywhere in my purse. I wouldn't buy but the Franklin Sudoku game because it is too big and bulky. I also think the screen is too small on that one. On this touch screen version, it's bigger and easy to do the puzzles on. I haven't gotten to the higher levels yet but I think that I will eventually. I may not have as many levels but I am able to quickly solve the puzzles with no problems. I take everywhere with me and by far have gotten my money's worth many times over.

Fun, but these are not valid Sudoku puzzles!,

I received this as a gift this past Christmas, and it's been quite a bit of fun to play with. The first thing I do on the train to work each morning is the Sudoku puzzle in the paper, and I'd often get bored on the ride home. The endless puzzles in this game keep me occupied. However, as one other reviewer hinted, the puzzles are not valid Sudoku puzzles. I'd estimate, conservatively, that 9 out of 10 puzzles on this handheld have multiple solutions. You get down to often 6 or 8 empty squares, and there are several different "correct" ways to complete the puzzle. Of course, the toy only recognizes one way. If you already have this game, I challenge you to put any puzzle that it gives you in a Sudoku solver online. Multiple, or incomplete, solutions will come up because of the invalid puzzles. If you don't mind playing with incomplete puzzles, this game is a ton of fun. If you think puzzles should have "right" and "wrong" answers, then you might want to find another handheld that had some extra thought put into the programming.

This is sooo easy to use that I have to recommend this handheld game to anyone looking for a Sudoku game. The touch screen works great and isn't any harder to see than the original Game Boy. Pick a number from the bottom of the screen and put it in any number of boxes without all that tedious button pushing to move a cursor around. If you've made a mistake, just touch the Cancel button and then which number you want to "erase"; or you can overwrite a number. There's a Pause button if you're concentration is demanded elsewhere, and after a couple of minutes, it automatically shuts off to save power. When you return, the game is still there, just as you left it. The extra stylus included with the game is a nice addition but I wish there was somewhere to store it so it doesn't get lost. I also wish it had a "Restart" button for those times when you know you've messed up but don't have any idea where. As it is, you can still Cancel every number you've put in and start the game over. I've very glad my daughter picked this up for me and wouldn't trade it for any other one I've seen. |
