5.0 out of 5 stars Bleak, Apocalyptic, Claustrophobic.and undeniably brilliant, October 28, 2003
This review is from: Woe to Thee O Land Who's King Is a Child (Audio CD)
If you think rap, says nothing constructive, and only seems concerned with `Getting Paid', here's a album to change your preconceptions (provided you can understand what's going on!!??). This is an "Anti-War", "Anti-Bush" album, that doesn't pull any punches (the sleeve notes inside the Cd case say "Fu*k Bush"...and my favourite: "In Texas...a Village is missing an idiot"). Rapper "Big Jus" calls into question Bush's ability to govern himself, let alone a country. Challenges America's gung-ho approach to war, and how it ultimately affects us all, and is this a war on terrorism??, or a money making exercise??? Big Jus especially urges to be aware of governmental lies, and deliberate misinformation...asking people to question what they are being told. But more probingly he details the greatest threat to mankind....which is `Man' himself, who will ultimately destroy all that is good. This isn't an album to relax to....raps are delivered at breakneck speed (impossible to distinguish what's going on, and picking out sentences is your best hope), stark, bleak, apocalyptic beats & sounds (although surprising inventive), gives the vocals all the room they need to become the focus of the album, and with such insightful, expressive & thought provoking lyrics, the effect is akin to digesting several large bursts of information simultaneously. And yet, in spite of this, manages to be an album that will (and you can quote me on this), unveil something new, something unheard previously, something inspirational with every listen, for several years.

I'ma keep this short and sweet. This album is incredible, from start to finish, mindblowing lyrics, and bugged out beats. Standout tracks are "super pretzel diplomacy", and "brave new world". DO NOT SLEEP, if you appreciate quality underground hip hop pick this up ASAP

5.0 out of 5 stars The phattest polemic ever, July 15, 2005
This review is from: Woe to Thee O Land Who's King Is a Child (Audio CD)
Awesome album. From the raps to the beats it exudes a revolutionary vibe. The bloody kind. The lyrics are dropped with a style and content which gives a big middle finger to the Bush Admin and the media. A broad range of styles of both raps and beats.

If you're a fan of Company Flow (Fantastic Damage) you'll like this. If you like to hear a little more punk and politics in your hip hop, this is the one for you.

I was lucky enough to score the promo which has the instrumentals of each track on it as well. These beats are 'next' and slamming. You want sounds of war? Here it is, work those Howitzer's, yo!
