Book Description

Note: A portion of the proceeds goes towards the Pi Eta Delta Sorority (pietadelta.com) scholarship program.

This new book is a collection of stories from seven women of the PhD Sisters Support Group, who earned their PhD, EdD, DBA, or other doctoral degree. These women reflect on their journey to obtaining their terminal degree. They discuss intimate details of the highs and lows experienced while completing their program.

As you read these stories, you will see that despite the challenges faced, they never lost sight of finishing their doctoral degree. This is the first volume of an ongoing series designed to provoke thought about the importance of pursuing an education and to inspire young women to continue their education regardless of the challenges that they may face in their everyday lives. As you read these stories, we hope that you discover why education matters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hurray for Online Schools June 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a very light but informative read about African-American women and their Ph.D. journey.. I think all women should read it for regardless of the obstacles one can succeed! So many people have a negative view of online education but should realize that all educational institutions have issues, yes even the so-called "name brand schools". Online is here to stay and I hope others will get an opportunity to have a great experience like the ones portrayed in the book!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME January 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
First, I want to thank Dr. Winstead for selecting me to be apart of this master piece. This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. This book was heart felt and amazing. To hear all of the milestone we all had to endure to become PhD's was absolutely astounding. While reading everyone's story all I kept hearing in my heart was "the race is not given to the swift nor to the stong, but to the one that endureths to the end". This was a GREAT read and it gave me inspiration. Dr. Winstead you are the best and I love you.

This book was truly inspiring from start to finish. The stories allowed you to bond with the ladies and feel some of what they endured in order to achieve their goal. More people should read and become inspired to be the best they can be. Awesome!
