4.0 out of 5 stars Their Virgin Concubine, Masters of Ménage, Book 3 September 14, 2012

Piper Glen has been chosen by the Royal brothers of Bezakistan as a potential wife. The Sheikh Talib al Mussad is under pressure to take a wife, a wife their customs demand be shared with his brothers (Kade and Rafe). The brothers have been unable to find a woman for all three of them, until Piper Glen. Piper is convinced to come to Bezakistan with Rafe and Kade under the impression of offering consulting advice, when she's actually being tricked into marrying the three brothers. She then has thirty days to decide if she wants the marriage or if she wants to leave.

The brothers have to convince Piper that the marriage isn't a farce and that they do indeed love her. Bringing her to Bezakinstan has put her in danger and her men must decide if having Piper is worth risking her life for.

I really liked this, it was HOT! Piper is a great heroine, she's willing to open herself up and explore, while being honest. She also had this very adorable, quirky/klutzy personality. The men are winners, I think Rafe was my favorite and I wish there had been more focus on him. Rafe and Kade started the romance off and then most of the focus later in the book is on Talib and his internal struggles. It was a little disappointing not to have been given the same deep glimpse at Kade and Rafe. However, it does seem in menage books that one is given precedence over the others, in this case it was Sheikh Talib.

Talib is also involved in BDSM. The scene was fun, but safe words and aftercare are important. While I understood the plot device used there, safe words should still have been employed for a girl who was a virgin up until a few days before. I'm just a stickler like that, I guess. It was kind of fun to throw that in and add it to an already hot sex life, yeah!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sorta liked it, but disturbed December 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I generally enjoy this author. The erotica side of the story was enjoyable. But the romance side left me feeling both disappointed and disturbed. These men forced some lifetime decisions on the heroine that no man should. Especially, the callous disregard for a woman's right to decide when she is willing to take on the risks of pregnancy. Thankfully, the heroine had take steps to protect herself, but Tal's reaction to that was equally un-hero-like. And then the final scene was much too rushed to resolve the deep pain they had caused the heroine. Sex does not resolve all conflicts. I was left feeling cheated. I realize this is pure fantasy, but I still like my heroes to be honorable toward women, even if they are wounded warriors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read October 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I mostly liked the book and would give it 3 1/2 stars. I read it all in one sitting. I liked Piper's character a lot and how she became more self aware and confident as the book progressed. I agree that Rafe and Kade were kind of glossed over and it was just too easy that they fell for her at first sight. Tal's story was better developed and you had more insight into him. Tal's internal conflict and that with the uncle kept you reading.

As I've said before, my biggest problem with romance novels is that the heroine always forgives too easily. I know you've got to forgive to get to the HEA, but come on. Make them suffer and work for it. Then there are inconsistencies like...the movers hurt her feelings because they inferred her second-hand furniture was junk and the guys go ballastic over it. But then they leave all her second-hand clothes behind and dress her like a doll in designer clothing but that's ok. Then when not just one, but all three of them have been total jerks and hurt her terribly, all is forgiven in one evening when they decide it's time. If anyone knows any good titles where the heroine doesn't just fall over and land on her back, let me know.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Master Class in Erotic Romance, Menage & BDSM October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
New to me authors, so I haven't read books 1 & 2 (quickly remedying that!). The story is both highly emotive and completely erotic, evoking a physical thrill throughout. The best erotic romance I've read for the past several years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ending left me cold January 7, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not very happy (more like pissed) b/c I paid for a book that was great for the first 90% of the book. Pissed the heroine forgave her men way too easily. (SPOILERS SPOILERS) to ignore her and have her removed form their country w/o saying goodbye. Yes her men's actions was not to hurt Piper but to protect her. I can forgive them for being stupid if Piper and her men sat down and talked for more than 2 minutes before having sex. Piper didn't tell them how hurt and betrayed she felt. I feel no closure to the story b/c Piper never discussed these issues & their impact with her men. I need closure in a book to enjoy it and I didn't get it. The sex scenes were great. Piper did put her self out for love; I admire that strength. I wish she would of put her self out by letting her men know how much she was hurt by their actions.

Instead we got a story of a cruel Sheik who uses past experiences to hurt those around him. Rafe and Kade I loved. They were true Hero's. If this book was about them and the Heroine I would be giving this 5 stars. They still did something wrong and created a conflict to be overcome but I still LIKED them. Tal I didn't like from the first page until the end. He was weak, cruel, and for all his conflicted feelings throughout he thought the Heroine was worthless as a person. He felt like a misogynist to me. For someone so committed to the bdsm lifestyle he was the stereotypical bad Dom. Every safety rule he ignored and everything was about what he could get out of the sub not about taking care of her (Including the taking of virginity. He threatened her the whole time and spanked her. This was not a virgin interested in the lifestyle. He totally took advantage and it left me feeling dirty and used). The author kept trying to make us believe we couldn't hold his actions against him because he was kidnapped and tortured. I've read stories where this is successfully done, this is not one of them. I didn't like nor care about him at all. And like most romances its the heroines role to forgive anything, beg, plead and general debase herself because she loves them. Because who needs to be able to look themselves in the eye when you can be treated like a whore?

I ADORE this series. The previous books were so well written the characters leapt off the page and I felt every emotion they did as they were bonded closer and closer together. I was cheering for the couples happily ever after the whole way.

But every series has that one book that's just terrible and you just ask Why? This is that book
