4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could have been better
I loved the film, and enjoy listening to the songs on the CD. However, I think the soundtrack could have been much better by having more of the original score included on the CD. The score really was the best music in the film.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I loved the movie and the haunting twangy guitar music of Hans Zimmer & co, but the CD has only a few bars of this in "Thunderbird", at the beginning. This is such a shame as this could have been a monster hit in its own right if it had been developed and recorded seperately. Huge mistake by MCA.

3.0 out of 5 stars This soundtrack is missing its crown jewel: The "Thunderbird" Theme!, January 27, 2009

Like so many other reviewers of this "Thelma & Louise" soundtrack, I was very disappointed not to find the crown jewel of this film's score in its entirety: The "Thunderbird" Theme, performed by slide guitar virtuoso Pete Haycock!

It seems that I'm not the only one who was blown away by this particular song at the end of the movie, and immediately sought it out on vinyl on the way home from the theatre (literally, I did!). I remember sitting in my theatre seat, patiently through all the credits, just to confirm my suspicion that this tune had indeed been executed so beautifully by this amazing guitarist, whose lovely trademark slide guitar was featured there.

For those of you who are fans of that tune, you can find other Pete Haycock (ex-Climax Blues Band lead guitarist) offerings that are sure to please. I recommend several, actually, including the "Wings of a Film" LIVE recording of Hans Zimmer's soundtrack music (on which Pete Haycock treats us to the entire "Thunderbird" theme from the movie, complete with a full orchestra! It's awesome...

On the solo front, you'd be wise to add "Guitar and Son", "Livin' It", "Bikers' Dozen", and his new band's latest release, "Pete Haycock's True Blues LIVE -- featuring Glen Turner". Rumor has it that, in addition to the current tour he's enjoying in Europe, there may be a return to U.S. soil for a much-anticipated and long-overdue tour here...

In the meantime, check out the RMI Sound website and Pete Haycock (dot com) for info about this amazing artist's current offerings. You'll be glad you did! There's nobody better than Pete, in my opinion, and Hans Zimmer made a very astute choice in collaborating with him on several of his movie soundtrack projects, including "K2", and "Drop Zone", among others...

4.0 out of 5 stars Martha Reeves Rocked The House!, December 8, 2007
By
This review is from: Thelma & Louise: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I was so pleased to see Martha Reeves of the Vandellas, included on this soundtrack of "Thelma & Louise." Great singers, like Miss Reeves, rarely get this type of honor, but Susan Sarandon probably had something to do with it.

When Martha recorded the tune, it was part of her critically acclaimed album MARTHA REEVES (MCA), which was produced by Richard Perry of Barbra Streisand fame, who had been a longtime fan of Miss Reeves' and had even approached Berry Gordy about recording Reeves. He was turned down.

Martha's album was, at the time, the most expensively produced album in history. "Wild Nights" was one of the highlights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good., April 3, 1999
This review is from: Thelma & Louise: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I first bought this soundtrack on tape when I was in the UK and desperate for something new to listen to while travelling... and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect to be enthralled with the soundtrack, since it had what I considered to be an abundance of country-type music and I am a self-avowed hater of that stuff. However, I thought this soundtrack was extremely good. To sum up, in a word of one syllable, "Wow!" And, I may add, the perfect album to travel with.

5.0 out of 5 stars A number 1 hit all the way, February 25, 1999

I have seen 'Thelma and Louise' about 20 times, and know all the song clips. This album is just as good as the movie. My favorite is 'ballad of lucy jordan'-it expresses the truth about women: our choices in life aren't always simple, that we sacrifice much more than we would like. But we do it. The movie also expresses this theme, and I think it represents true feminine spirit-go Louise!(she's my favorite)

The only song that I loved was the song that got played at the end when they drove off the cliff. I cry everytime I see that part and with that beautiful choir score in the background makes me cry even harder. They made a huge mistake in not included it, I think the soundtrack would have been much better with it.
