This review is from: Let Them Call it Jazz and Other Stories (Penguin 60s) (Paperback)
The place is mostly Paris, which is why I was drawn to Rhys. The stories are grim but original and well written, and so compelling that I finally read her Wide Sagasso Sea, not set in Paris, a novel I had been putting off reading for years. After reading her short stories, I found the Sea as compelling as all the other novels. I'm sorry there isn't more Rhys to read.
