Andy Starr looks and sounds like ElvisPresley.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dig Them Squeaky Shoes (Audio CD)
Andy Starr was one of the original rockabilly entertainers of the 1950's. his first record releases, "Dig Them Squeaky Shoes" and "Tell Me Why" were released on LIN in 1955. He looke adn sounded enough like Presley that he attracted the attention of the Aberbach Brothers at Hill and Range Songs, the sameorganization which placed presley's new contract (after SUN) with RCA Victor Records. However, in this instance they helped place Starr's new contract with MGM, a company sorely in need of a rockabilly winner. BEAR FAMILY records has new released all of Andy's numerour recordings covering a career of over 15 years. Collectors will find this CD a treasure trove of the best sounds and songs of this early era. Linernotes and many pictures add to the value.

Rockin' Rollin' Andy,
By Martin 13 (Slovenia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dig Them Squeaky Shoes (Audio CD)
Nice raw rockabilly. The best track is "Rockin' Rollin' Stone" and tracks that were recorded with a rockabilly band named The Strikes. Featured here is a pop version of a rockabilly song "Knee Shakin'" which Don Alexander (ex. The Strikes) wrote and released first! Andy Starr died on Sep 12, 2003, seventy years old.
