I'm usually pretty hard to please, especially cd-wise, since so few bands have a cd on which I like at least half of the songs. Madina Lake, however, is one of the very few who has an entire album full of unskipable songs. I originally heard House of Cards on the radio, thought it catchy and good, and then forgot it for a little while until it inexplicably got stuck in my head. Then I made the desperate and hopeful leap and bought their entire cd instead of just the song and have since fallen in love with it. House of Cards, Pandora, and Stars are probably the most prominent songs which define their sound. The other songs have the potential of fading into the background on the first one or two listens and sounding like most other songs out there, but also have their own distinct qualities.
Either way, I would buy their next CD without previewing any of the songs first, and that is really saying something.

I saw their video for "House of Cards" and I liked the song. I took a chance and just bought the album. Some of the songs are okay, they don't suck, but I find myself skipping through. A lot of times the album reminds me of Lostprophets. That's not a bad thing, I like Lostprophets. It's songs like "Here I Stand", "House of Cards", "Now or Never", "Stars", "One Last Kiss" and "True Love" that makes the cd worth buying. I sure hope to catch them on Warped Tour this summer.

Very Solid.,
This review is from: From Them Through Us to You (Audio CD)
The only reason I bought this CD was because it was $10. I sound like a bad fan, but its true. I had heard the new version of adalia online and it turned my interest of buying this cd into nothing. It sounded like they took a step back from the original recording [Note, I'm not sure if its the same as the Disappearance of Adalia, I have the EP/Sampler from before that]. That song was damn good, and was what hooked me into Madina Lake a little more than 1 1/2 years ago.
With that said, I had low expectations for this CD going into it. I was wrong, by far. The songs flow together very well, and I was interested in every song, no skipping songs here. I have now learned, never doubt Madina Lake. These songs are a little harder than what theyve done before, and im thinking its from Roadrunner [possibly?]. They seemed like an odd fit on the label. The Screamo[ish] [I use this term very lightly] approach on some of the songs is very well done, which I would not have thought coming from them. My only gripe for this CD is adalia, the line "But I won't let her go" just seems out of place for me. The background screaming though is a nice touch, while its not as melodic as it was before. Overall, im very impressed. My original love for Madina Lake is back thanks to me being cheap, and their musicianship. I can't wait for their next release, whenever that might be.

Huge Songs,

They are catchy chunks of alternative metal with a glossy pop sheen that fans of Lostprophets (circa Start Something) should eat up with glee.

I bought this CD two days before seeing them at projekt rev in CT, they put on one of the best live shows, and I had the pleasure of being pretty close to the stage.
This whole record is amazing, every song is good which is a rare find these days. Totally worth every penny to buy this/see them! Look me up on flickr to see some shots of Madina Lake live (lovedecember).

I just went to see these guys at VA beach yesterday on the projekt revolution tour. they were set to play for about 30 minutes, but they came on 15 minutes early and played straight through. they interacted with the fans and were really gracious the whole time. the songs sounded raw but as good as the recordings (which VERY few bands can pull off). i remember thinking of what a good set it was, but then the band came out in the 95-degree heat and signed autographs for over 2 hours, turning no fans away for autographs or pictures. these guys make great music and do it for the right reasons. great album, good mix of sound feeling, and a class act of a band.

Morning Sadness,

This review is from: From Them Through Us to You (Audio CD)
Morning Sadness is a great song, and shows a definite uniques quality in this band. Other than that I guess I just don't get it.
The album was produced by the same guys who produced albums for Jimmy Eat World and you can hear that sound. These guys play good, and have great voices- all the attributes, but without interesting new music they'll fade into the background. Interestingly enough- the producer Tambino alo produced Motion City Soundtrack CD's too. While you can also hear that same sound here, Motion City is far superior, and far more creative and they stand out. I guess what I am saying is that these kids have been touring their tails off but have yet to really find a sound all their own. They still sound like 100 other songs, and bands I've heard before. A great rock band should leave it's mark, and they really don't. The album is totally forgettable, and even if you love it- in a few years you won't remember them.

I didnt even want to buy this CD at first my best friend and I were in Target and we bought it because the cover art was cool.. we got it without ever hearing a song or knowing who they were! We put the CD in immediately when we got in the car. She loved it and it took me a day or two to fall in love with this album. We just went to a concert that they were in at the Orpheum in Tampa. AMAZING BAND-GREAT MUSIC-VERY NICE GUYS!! They deserve everything! The CD is awesome! I love every single track-if you like this kind of music you will love it!!!!
