This review is from: Theme for Travel (Audio CD)
theme for travel...or theme for shovelling snow in the dark while the wind is blowing you around....or theme for walking around at 2 am in the snow because you can't sleep because you're troubled by how much you miss your ex gfriend...the death-dealer.

seriously this a genre-bender. great street beats, drum and bass elements, electonica, synth pop ala ulrech schnauss.

very cohesive and not a week track on the album.

high recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new favorite, May 28, 2010
This review is from: Theme for Travel (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this CD for the past couple of years and I love it! The song pair 'Supertanker' and 'Theme for Travel' is one of my all time favorites. Ever. (seriously). Listening to them back-to-back puts me into a perfect place that I can hardly describe. I lose all ability to think about other stuff . . . I just drift along to the music. Somehow Umami crafted 15 minutes of music whose various elements perfectly fit into the nooks and crannies of my brain. I listen to a lot of music, and it's rare to find something so perfect.

This album has a consistent and cohesive feel, so if you've heard 1 or 2 songs and you like them, then I expect you'd like the entire album. From my point of view the stellar tracks are Supertanker, Theme for Travel, and Amb001c. Other tracks that are very good are Anahata, Fidget, Great Falls MT, and Eqx.

If you want to buy this music, do yourself a favor and get it on CD and listen to it on a decent stereo. I listened to it for 2 years as MP3s using earbud headphones. I liked the music, but I only loved three of the songs. Now that I've gotten around to listening to the CD on my car stereo, I'm much more enthusiastic. In CD format the music is lush, rich and full. Even the high-pitched noise samples sound good on the CD.
