5.0 out of 5 stars Reynold continues to please, February 24, 2003

This review is from: Themes for Imaginary Movies (Audio CD)
Themes For Imaginary Movies is a wonderfully eclectic yet very approachable release from Reynold Phillipsek. Reynold creates music that defies categorization, almost thumbing his nose at it, and it is that attitude that frees him to create music that provides a range that spans jazz to pop. Influences from Wes Montgomery and George Harrison start Reynold on his wonderful tour of movies that is nostalgic without being old fashioned. And while Reynold could never be accused of creating simple music, it is not arrogant or distant. Quite the opposite, Reynold's music is intimate and feels very much as if you are listening to him in a small club.

Dec. 27, 2002
Minnesota artist Reynold Philipsek has released another gem of musical imagination. "Themes For Imaginary Movies" is an eclectic collection of musical jewels that expresses theatrical ideas that exist only in our minds. Ideas born of Reynold's fertile mind far before the actors have been hired or the sets constructed. It is a format that allows the listener full license to "create" plots and scenes on their own. A kind of mini-theater right in ones own noodle!
This musical collection is a master mix of previous favorites and fresh offerings. All of them newly dressed up and ready to please! The flute renderings of Don Anderson on four of the tracks are especially tasty and effective.
Treat yourself to a movie today. In fact, why not treat yourself to an entire collection of movies and view them right in the comfort of your own head. Check out "Themes For Imaginary Movies" - and don't forget the popcorn!
