1.0 out of 5 stars speechless; thats how bad it sucked
The story starts out with Eve talking to her daughter about going to church and the next chapter the daughter was pregnant. This was how confusing the story was throughout the book. The characters were wacked. Eve and Paul relationship was, lets just say DUMB!! You couldn't tell whether they loved each other or not, and the ending was a let down. I was highly...

Eve has four other daughters who make her life very different than the avearge mother.Eve was a victim of incest as a young girl. One of the perpetrators made an appearance and got a rude awakening. This book has everything a person could imagaine in a story and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbound!, August 10, 1999

I've never been so spellbound while reading a book. My wife told me I would like this book and I'm glad I listened to her, for once. I couldn't put this book down. I didn't want to put it down. The passion and flavor in this book is so real. I could see the characters; I could feel the kiss; I could taste the food. Congratulations ma'am, you have a fan. I'm going to order Letters, then Cousins so we can read them together. This is another thing my wife and I can share. Thanks for helping us bond.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Won't Put This Book Down!, July 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Them's Eve's Daughter's (Spiral-bound)
This book takes you back to a time when inter-racial relationships were a serious taboo in Mississippi. However, the love Eve and Don Paul had for one another remained with them. I love how the author reunites them. I could see it and feel it. I loved the way Ms. Dick's characters seem so real. The language and dialect is fantastic and refreshing! Anyone reading this book will feel every emotion. I have now read all three of Ms. Dick's books and I can't wait for her to write another. You are truly a talented author. Move over Ms. McMillian, you have some serious competition in town!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mississippi Blues, July 3, 2001

The love triangle between the Reverend, Eve and Don Paul is undescriable. Who will she pick? Who should she pick? - - is more like it. I don't think I could have made a choice! The love that these two men have for Eve is amazing. I feel cheated becuse I've never even known love could truly be like this. This author truly has a refreshing imagination.

I want a man like the Reverend or Don Paul!

5.0 out of 5 stars BOOK OF THE CENTURY, November 10, 1999

This review is from: Them's Eve's Daughter's (Spiral-bound)
This book is absolutely wonderful. Anyone who has eyes should read this book! I could not put it down. I've read all three of your books now and this one is my absolute favorite! I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I want a man like Don Paul. Though he is white, his love for this sista is unshakable. I found myself constantly looking for Don Paul on the streets of Detroit! I would take a man like him in any color! Ms. Dick, just so you know your books are more than just romance. They take you to another world and make your mind escape. Once you come back you want life to be the way you wrote it! I've never been so captivated reading a book. I can feel you jumping off of the pages. You got it goin' on sista! Keep on Keepin' On!
