About the Author

Steve Zipay is an award-winning journalist who has covered events from Super Bowls to the World Series and issues from sports marketing to stadium financing. Born and raised in New York City, Steve is a former sports-media columnist, business editor, and news editor for Newsday and currently covers the Rangers and NHL for the paper and newsdays.com, where his Blue Notes blog is among its most read.

In 1997 Steve was a member of the Newsday team that won a Pulitzer Price for spot-news reporting on the crash of TWA Flight 800. He also has written about sports, politics, entertainment, and crime for newspapers in New Jersey and Connecticut, and has appeared on ESPN, CNN, MSG, National Public Radio, and WFAN radio in New York. Steve recently was honored with the Barney Kremenko Award as 2009 Sportswriter of the Year by the Nassau County Sports Commission. He is also the author of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: New York Rangers.
